Gears of War E-Day feature-4

Gears of War: E-Day Closed Beta Runs With 40-50FPS at 4K/Ultra on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080

Last month, Microsoft held a closed beta for Gears of War: E-Day. X user Ariel Combo took part in the test and shared several gameplay clips with a performance overlay. Thanks to these videos, we can get an early look at how the closed beta build runs on PC.

Ariel Combo played the game on a high-end PC, equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080. He also played at 4K on Ultra/Max Settings, though we don’t know whether that was Native 4K or 4K with DLSS.

The NVIDIA RTX 5080 was able to run the Closed Beta with framerates ranging from 40FPS to 50FPS. During less taxing scenes, the RTX 5080 was also able to push 60FPS.

If we look at Halo: Campaign Evolved, which also uses UE5, the NVIDIA RTX 5080 can push framerates between 51-55FPS at Native 4K/Ultra. So, these results may be at Native 4K.

The good news is that Gears of War: E-Day looks amazing in these latest PC clips. So, I can’t wait to get my hands on it. This will most likely give us a glimpse at the performance we can expect from the games that will use UE5.8. So, let’s hope there won’t be any major traversal stutters.

Gears of War: E-Day will be using Unreal Engine 5, and it will be one of the first games to support MegaLights. Thanks to MegaLights, the game will have hundreds of lights that can cast shadows.

Since the game is using Unreal Engine 5.8 and takes advantage of Lumen and MegaLights, I’m certain that its Ray Tracing option will enable Hardware Lumen. We’ve seen a similar thing in previous UE5 games, like Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Microsoft plans to release Gears of War: E-Day on October 6. You can also find its official PC system requirements here. A Multiplayer Open Beta will be launched on August 6, allowing all PC gamers to try it.

Stay tuned for more!
