Microsoft has announced that Gears of War: E-Day will be released on October 6. To celebrate this announcement, the team shared its first gameplay trailer, which you can find below.
Gears of War: E-Day takes place fourteen years before Gears of War. War heroes Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago return home to face a new nightmare: the Locust Horde. These subterranean monsters, grotesque and relentless, erupt from below, laying siege on humanity itself.
The game will be using Unreal Engine 5, and it will have a story campaign, a Horde Siege PvE Mode, and Refined and Focused PvP Multiplayer.
In Horde Siege, you will have to survive a city under siege in an evolved take on Gears’ iconic co-op wave survival mode built for larger maps, more players, and bigger battles. You can choose your class from Assault, Marksman, Medic, or Breacher. Then, you will drop in as a 4-player squad to fight back the Locust. You will team up with multiple squads to conquer shared objectives and take down world bosses. Moreover, you can earn rewards, unlock customization, and improve your loadout for the next match.
In the PvP Multiplayer, you can battle across all-new maps and refined fan-favorite 4v4 modes. You can choose your level of competition. Then, you can lock in and climb the ranks in Ranked or jump into Social playlists for a more relaxed match.
Modernized controls and movement will make combat feel more fluid while retaining Gears’ signature cover-based feel. Players can jump, vault, slide, and flank with intent.
