Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s DLC Officially Announced; A real disappointment after EIDOS little ‘game’

Here are some good and bad news for Deus Ex fans as Square Enix has officially announced Human Revolution’s DLC. The DLC will be called Missing Link and will feature sprawling new environments, new layers of conspiracy and brand-new characters to interact with. The bad news, however, is that Adam will lose all his augs and you’ll have to rebuild them. Yeah, it’s one of those DLC/sequels where you lose all of your powers.
According to the game’s press release, Adam mysteriously vanishes for three days during his quest for the truth in Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Where was he? What did he find out? The Missing Link reveals it all.
After being tortured by Belltower agents and having his augmentations disabled, Adam Jensen must rely solely on his basic capabilities to escape from a freighter, destined for an unknown location. While fighting for his survival on the ship, he uncovers another layer to the conspiracy that he never would have suspected. As Adam, befriend new, mysterious allies and fight ruthless enemies to discover what was happening in the shadows during the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
The funny thing here is that Adam has the same-old augs at the ending stages of Human Revolution and your ‘changes’ in this DLC won’t really matter or make any sense. So, let’s say that you decide to re-build him in this DLC. Then why Adam has his old augs after those three days in the Human Revolution? We understand that EIDOS wants to provide an experience that is similar to Human Revolution, but this is definitely not the right way.
The whole immersion gets messed up. If EIDOS had planned this whole ‘re-build your Adam’ thing from the start, they could offer in Human Revolution an option to reset your augs after those three days. Pretty much like what happened in The Witcher 2, where you had the chance to re-build Geralt at the end of the game.
EIDOS could easily release another sort of DLC. A DLC that could take place after the ending of Human Revolution where Adam (after surviving all the various endings… we are pretty sure that they could find a solution to keep him alive) could track down Megan, meet with Bob Pages and find out the experiments with the Grays. Now THAT would be an awesome DLC or even a great expansion for the game.
Bad move EIDOS, you could have done so much better than that!
