This Skyrim Mod Overhauls Combat With Localized Damage and Better Weapon Balance

Modder ‘Seb263’ has released a cool new mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. This mod adds localized damage, armor effectiveness, weapon balance, and combat context for deeper, more tactical fights. So, if you’ve been planning to replay this TES game, you might want to give this a go.

Going into more detail, this mod adds a full damage system that makes every hit matter. Damage now depends on what you hit, where you hit it, what armor is protecting it, and the conditions of the fight.

The mod works on the player, NPCs, and creatures of any race. It also works with added races from other mods and does not need special patches.

Built on the Core Impact Framework, the mod handles hit locations, armor strength, weapon balance, and combat conditions. All of these systems work together in real time to make combat more varied and tactical.

The head, torso, arms, and legs each have their own damage values. These values can change for physical, ranged, and magic attacks. The mod also tracks the exact body part that was hit. A headshot on an unarmored enemy will hurt much more than a hit to the leg of an enemy in heavy armor. This makes headshots more deadly, and limb hits more useful.

Different weapons also have their own damage values. One-handed weapons, two-handed weapons, daggers, hand-to-hand attacks, bows, spells, and creature attacks can all be set up on their own. This means a dagger, sword, axe, bow, spell, or claw can each deal different amounts of damage.

Armor also matters more. Cloth, light armor, and heavy armor can each have their own strength and coverage settings. The mod checks the armor being worn and finds the best protection for each body part. Heavy armor on the chest will help protect the chest, but it will not protect bare legs. Your armor choices now have a real impact on survival.

The way an attack is made also affects its damage. Normal attacks, power attacks, sneak attacks, shield bashes, blocked hits, and attacks on staggered enemies all work in different ways. A sneak attack with a dagger to an unarmored head is much more deadly than a blocked power attack against an enemy in full plate.

These changes make combat more tactical and give players more reason to think about how they fight.
