Developer bryanthaboi has released a new version of gen1recomp that adds support for Pokemon Gold. This means that we now have an unofficial PC port of this Game Boy Color Pokemon game. Not only that, but it also has 3D voxel support.
Right now, gen1recomp has support for four Pokemon games. These are Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Yellow, and Pokemon Gold.
To enable the 3D voxels, once you are in-game, you’ll have to press “3”. Then you can use “4” to zoom through every level. Gen1Recomp also has Save/Load functionalities. You can find all of these settings in the Options menu, too.
My guess is that we’ll soon get support for Pokemon Silver, too. Honestly, I expect all the classic Pokemon games to be supported by gen1recomp. So, this recomp will be a dream come true for all PC Pokemon fans.
You can go ahead and download the latest version of gen1recomp from this link. To play the four Pokemon games I mentioned above on PC, you will need their US ROM files. Needless to say, we won’t share any download links to the ROM files. You’ll have to find them yourselves.
