YouTube’s Sanadsk has shared a video, showcasing the classic Playstation 2 GoW game, God of War 2, running on the PC in 4K with Reshade Ray Tracing. This video will give you a glimpse at what a modern-day remaster of this game could look like.
As always, Sanadsk used Pascal “Marty McFly” Glicher Reshade Ray Tracing Mod in order to enhance this game. Naturally, the YouTuber has also used a PS2 emulator in order to run the game on the PC and in 4K resolution.
The end result is really cool and I’m pretty sure that a lot of God of War fans would love to see such a remaster. Hell, even if Sony does not release such a remaster, PC gamers can already experience it on the PC. All they have to do is run God of War 2 on a PS2 emulator with the Reshade Ray Tracing Mod.
Speaking of Reshade Ray Tracing Mods, here is also Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time with Reshade Ray Tracing. You can also find here other PC games with Reshade Ray Tracing effects. These past few months we’ve covered a lot of games. Some of them appear to benefit greatly from it, while others do not. You can also find Reshade Ray Tracing Mod videos for Halo 3, Star Citizen, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Watch Dogs, and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Enjoy!

didnt sony already remastered on PS3? and I think it run quite well on RPCS3
Yeah, the PS3 got four remasters of GoW.
by far the best god of war game, the rest of the games are average by comparison.
Pc master race wins again.
GoW 3 is fantastic
meh its boring, level design is too samey.
Because the game takes place in one place while in GoW2 it’s more of an adventure, but it’s superior in every other aspect
weapons were kinda boring too
WUT ? The Nemean Cestus alone beats every weapon/power of GoW2
the dumb punching fists? Lol dude.
This is stupid, why would every single floor be reflective??? Stone isn’t reflective at all.
What?
Dude, what kind of world do you live in?
Of course stones are reflective, just like grass, trees and pavement.
All mirror like.
because your mother squirted all over the floor.
Dude…when will stop being such a cringelord?
when your mother stops sucking on my dik.
Literally everything reflects light to some degree. If you can see it, it’s because it reflects light.
And plenty of stone surfaces are reflective, especially stuff like marble which is used a lot in greek architecture.
Example A. Actual stone streets in actual Greece. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/7a51a8e6f7453cc2939774011bd6bd0e5e8a9979281230b3f00ec436de9d1c3d.jpg
Example B. Actual Greek Temples in Greece. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/6c50ceac705eb57ac46b4b8a797db623eabd2c34c5a9b28a0a20e1e2924e6f0e.jpg
But some surfaces dont reflect that much….. even in that damn Watch Dogs Legion some surfaces are made less reflective as it should be (like in real life). Its like all the graphics mods for popular AAA games…….. basically adding rainy roads puddles everywhere, even at places where it should not be lol and they call it a remaster.
Not anywhere remotely to the degree in this video. Not to mention it looks stupid AF and completely out of place. It’s the ancient Greek world. A lived in world. Dirty. Every single surface should not be massively reflective and shiny and this is the reason Raytracing has not really been used in games despite being 20+ year old 3d technology. It’s hard to control without ridiculous results like these.
I’ve been to Greece. I’ve been to Greek temples. Trust me, they don’t reflect like mirrors.
God of War is also a stylized, very pastel-heavy art style that isn’t intended to look super realistic. Using raytracing and upscaling neuters the idiosyncracies of the original art and that becomes more and more apparent as the video goes on and you get to levels like everything involving the Titans.
The very fact that light reflects off of all things doesn’t mean it’s binary. It’s not binary. Literally every object, every speck of dust, every cloud, everything that exists affects light rays. They don’t just universally bounce the same way off of everything and look uniform all the time.
For any marble surface to reflect as extremely as the way this loose raytracing in the video is making it, it would have to be obsessively buffed with a chamois cloth, and then obsessively polished with stone polish or specific marble-polishing paste. Not realistic, at all. Yet the water in the video doesn’t reflect like this, when it’s the only thing that should. Hilarious.
What’s your CPU that you can run these games without any issues? I though RPCS3 required a beast CPU? And you’re sure these games are 100% playable without any missing effect or glitches?
A more impressive remaster then Crysis!!!
With Crysis – They remastered what wasn’t really needed and leaved what was (single thread capping the games performance)
Anything is better than Crysis “de
remastered”…Thank god epic games has a refund function and it’s easy to use… The changes they made were unwelcomed. I’ll stick to the original I bought on GOG.
Except PCSX2 can run this game flawlessly even on a crappy old i5 4670. With RPCS3 you need top CPU to do it.
even this f4ggy low iq button mashing combat system was better than the rytarded dark shet’s combat system we get in games these days.
PS3 is the best way to play this games, I keep this console only for god of war. Tried the emulation but the glitches kill the experience for me. I really like old god of war games.
Right now RPCS3 can run all of the GoW classic games flawlessly, i have a 8600k with no overclock and all these games run at fixed 60 fps with 2160p internal res. PCSX2 on the other hand is less demanding but it has lowres HUD and it’s way more glitchy
Last time tried RPCS3 was very slow and buggy, but before i use it right now i need a total upgrade to my system in the future.

This is an absolute masterpiece of a game and worth a play for anyone who hasn’t experienced it.
Why they haven’t announced God of War Saga for PC yet is beyond me.
That’s some cool 18 fps in some of the scenes.
Usually these kind of videos look like crap or are underwhelming but this one actually looks amazing. Good job.
