Final Fantasy VIII Now Available On Steam

Square Enix announced today the Steam release of the new downloadable PC version of Final Fantasy VIII at a price of $11.99. The Steam version is said to be optimized for modern high-definition PCs and fully integrated with Steam, and includes a range of new features such as a Magic Booster that enables players to power up their spells, Steam cloud support, and 45 integrated achievements to encourage players to explore various facets of the game. Now this will definitely please a lot of – mainly old-school – gamers. In its latest Community Q&A, EIDOS Montreal revealed that there will be no QTEs (quick time events) on the new Thief game. Thief Will Officially Support AMD’s Mantle, TressFX 2.0 Announced

AMD’s Developer Summit will begin shortly, and we’ve already got some interesting news for you. A couple of days ago, Square Enix stated that it would support AMD’s Mantle, though we had no official word on Thief supporting it. Well, we just got a confirmation. During AMD’s event, Nixxes Software’s Jurjen Katsman (yeap, once again Nixxes is handling the PC version of EIDOS Montreal’s title) will speak about Thief, Mantle, 4K gaming and AMD’s TrueAudio. Square Enix and Eidos-Montreal today released the first trailer in a new series of stylized videos that focus on the rich tapestry of THIEF; its City and its characters. As the press release reads, each trailer in this new series tells the story of The City from the perspective of a different character in THIEF’s narrative describing what life is like in the broken, repressed City that is being ravaged by the evil Baron Northcrest and the mysterious sickness known as ‘The Gloom’. Thief Will No Longer Support An XP System

And it is gone. One of the features that frustrated a lot of Thief fans is no longer available in the upcoming reboot of this classic title. As it was revealed on EIDOS Montreal’s latest Q&A, Thief will no longer support an XP system due to the backlash it received. That’s the spirit EIDOS Montreal.
