From 1992 To 2012: Graphic evolution of First Person Shooters

Doom 2
YouTube’s member ‘drloser333’ has created a cool video that showcases the graphical evolution of First Person Shooters from 1992 to 2012. This video shows off the original versions of the games that are featured – without any mods applied to them – rendered in actual resolutions of the period. Ironically, Unreal is nowhere to be found in this video and that’s a real shame as back in the days, Unreal looked better than anything available. That’s a big foul in our opinion, though we should note that drloser333 picked only one game from almost each year. But anyway, it’s a pretty good video and the montage is awesome. Enjoy! Quake Gets A New Mod That Overhauls Its Sound & Music – EpiQuake Is Out Now

Quake
Now this is really interesting. There is no denying that Quake looks epically amazing with its Darkplaces mod. Yes, all of its characters are blocky for today standards but the improved textures and special graphical effects give Quake’s visuals a big boost. Therefore, and instead of focusing on improving those polished visuals, modder ‘beckett007’ decided to concentrate on another aspect of id’s classic FPS, its sound (and music).
