Quake 2 RTX Patch 1.4.0 released, adds support for platform-agnostic Vulkan Ray Tracing

NVIDIA has released a new update for Quake 2 RTX that adds support for platform-agnostic Vulkan Ray Tracing. This basically means that Quake 2 RTX is no longer locked on NVIDIA’s hardware. Instead, this fully path-traced game can now run on all GPUs that support the latest Vulkan Ray Tracing extensions. DOOM & DOOM II latest update adds official 16:9 widescreen support & few other features

It appears that Doom and Doom II PC games have just received an official 16:9 widescreen support, which comes as a surprise considering the original Doom was released 27 years ago in 1993. NVIDIA RTX 3080 showcased being faster by 55-70% than the RTX 2080Ti in Doom Eternal

NVIDIA has recently posted a new video highlighting the gaming performance difference between the Geforce RTX 3080 GPU and the RTX 2080 Ti at 4K resolution. They used DOOM ETERNAL which was running in Ultra Nightmare settings, and the RTX 3080 easily outperforms the RTX 2080 Ti by a fair margin. Doom Eternal DLC “The Ancient Gods” can be played without owning the base game

It appears that Bethesda is taking a novel approach to Doom Eternal’s upcoming expansion/DLC titled ‘The Ancient Gods’ part one. This single-player expansion will be a completely standalone episode that can be purchased on its own and played without having the base game. Doom Eternal can run at 1,000 fps on liquid nitrogen cooled PC, tested with Core i7 9700K & RTX 2080Ti

When DOOM Eternal was in development, Id software’s lead engine programmer said that id Tech 7 engine powering Doom Eternal could run at 1,000 fps, on a powerful enough PC. A team lead by Polish hardware retailer x-kom has now managed to play Doom Eternal at 1000 FPS as part of QuakeCon.
