XCOM fans, get ready for a treat. Firaxis’ XCOM: Enemy Unknown is now available for pre-purchase on Steam and comes with some special unlock rewards. These rewards are according to the total number of pre-orders, and players might be rewarded the Elite Soldier pack, 3 Exclusive XCOM TF2 items, and Civilization V. This is the first time we’ve seen such a rewarding system on Steam, so kudos to both Firaxis and 2K Games. XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Casualties of War Trailer

2K Games has released a new trailer for Firaxis’ XCOM: Enemy Unknown. XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be available for PC, PS3 and X360 on October 12th and will feature a unique multiplayer game mode featuring a one-on-one deathmatch against another player for the first time in an XCOM game, as players will be able to pick a squad of soldiers, aliens or even combine a squad of both unit types to create the ultimate mixed squad to command in battle. XCOM: Enemy Unknown Sports Specific PC UI Features

Good news for XCOM fans as Firaxis will include specific UI features in the PC version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown. According to lead designer, Jake Solomon, PC gamers will be able to zoom in and out on the battlefield, a feature that will be present only on the PC version. Sid Meier’s Civilization V Update Released and adds Steam Workshop

2K Games has released a new update for Sid Meier’s Civilization V. This update comes with official Steam Workshop support, moddable font icons and unit art, an option to activate/deactivate specific DLCs, several text bugs fixes, and new Loading screens. Sid Meier’s Civilization V goes free-to-play this weekend

2K Games and Firaxis Games announced today that Sid Meier’s Civilization V is free to play on Steam starting today until Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. PDT. As part of the celebration of the upcoming release of the expansion pack, Sid Meier’s Civilization V: Gods & Kings, the entire Civilization V franchise will be 75% off on Steam this weekend. XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be a really challenging game; not impossibly difficult or frustrating

In a recent interview with VentureBeat, Jake Solomon, lead designer for Firaxis Games’ XCOM: Enemy Unknown, said that their upcoming remake of the legendary XCOM game will be a really challenging game. Jake wanted to differentiate this term and said that it would not be impossibly difficult or tedious to play, just challenging in so many other ways. Moreover, Jake said that they have a game that openly embraces the idea of challenge as a selling point and that’s exactly what will differentiate their game from all other previous frustrating parts of the series, like X-Com: Terror from the Deep.
