CRYENGINE 5.5 is now available, featuring SVOGI improvements and more than 1000 fixes

Crytek has released CRYENGINE 5.5 in a major update, available for download from its official website or via the CRYENGINE Launcher. CRYENGINE 5.5 arrives with 1158 fixes, changes, and improvements from the previous full release, and allows users to enjoy many of the features and enhancements used by the Hunt: Showdown game development team. Blade Runner scene recreated in Unreal Engine 4, looking better than its CRYENGINE version

As I’m pretty sure you may know, I am a big fan of Blade Runner. After all, my desktop background – as seen in pretty much all PC Performance Analysis articles – is a Blade Runner recreation in CRYENGINE. However, it appears the time to replace has come as Quixel’s 3D Artist and Art Lead, Wiktor Ohman, has recreated a scene from this iconic film in Unreal Engine 4. Crytek sues Cloud Imperium for violating their CRYENGINE contract [UPDATE: Cloud Imperium comments]

Things are not looking good for Star Citizen and Squadron 42. Crytek has sued Cloud Imperium and Roberts Space Industries for violating their contract. According to the suit, Cloud Imperium was to develop only one game with CRYENGINE (Star Citizen) and not two (Star Citizen and Squadron 42). And while some may say that Squadron 42 is just the single-player mode of Star Citizen, the game is being sold as a standalone title, thus giving the impression of a second, separate game. It’s been a while since our last look at the fan-made remake of TimeSplitters 1, 2 & 3, TimeSplitters Rewind, right? In fact, back in July, the team claimed that it was experiencing development issues due to CRYENGINE. Crytek’s Senior Cinematic Artist shows gorgeous mountain and forest environments in CRYENGINE

Crytek’s senior cinematic artist, Joe Garth, has created two lovely environments in CRYENGINE, showing the capabilities of Crytek’s Engine. The first environment is a highly detailed forest, while the other one is a mountain environment inspired by Alaska’s Chugach Mountains. CRYENGINE now supports the Vulkan API, features terrain upgrades & a new component entity system

Crytek announced today the release of a preview version for CRYENGINE that comes with a suite of major new features that will help developers achieve their vision more easily and make the engine even more accessible. The update is available today on Github where users can also find the full update notes and the development roadmap, which is shaped in conjunction with the CRYENGINE community.
