My Eyes Are Burning – New CryEngine 3 Screenshots Full Of Lens Flares Effects

CryEngine modders and indie developers have posted some new screenshots from their upcoming projects and holy batman do they love lens flares. We strongly suggest putting your sunglasses on before viewing them because some modders went overdrive with those new lens flares effects that were introduced in the latest build of the free CryENGINE SDK. The highlights of this week are Revan1199’s andĀ USSR_GRAND’s maps. These two modders have created two amazing maps that do not rely on those annoying lens flares, so kudos to them. Enjoy! Next-Gen Will Be All About Lens Flares, New Screenshots From The Latest CryEngine SDK

Two weeks ago, we informed you about the release of the SDK for the latest version of CRYENGINE. Naturally, modders/artists/indie devs decided to take a look at this SDK and came up with some pretty… well… bizarre results. And from the looks of it, it seems that next-gen will be all about lens flares and some ‘in-your-face’ particles effects. Yes yes, some modders overused those effects in the following shots, but it’s pretty clear that every damn engine now supports those anamorphic lens flares. CRYENGINE Gets Updated For Next-Gen Platforms, New Logo, Gamescom 2013 Tech Demo

Crytek announced today the launch of the new CRYENGINE; an ever-evolving technology service, with always up to date access to the latest features in CRYENGINE for commercial game licensees. In short, CryEngine 3 (or 3.5) is no more, and the next-gen titles will be powered by its new version that will be simply called CRYENGINE. In addition, the company released today a new update for the free SDK that will take user feedback on board and remove some restrictions, which prevented users from working offline.
