Back when Gearbox revealed the first gameplay footage of Aliens: Colonial Marines, I was a bit sceptic about it. The AI of Aliens looked horrible, there were lots of uninspired scripted events (and not in the same level with – let’s say – those of AVP2) and the graphics were average at best. Of course Gearbox stated back then that it was beta footage, but we all know that – in this time of age – beta footage equals to almost final footage. Fast forward a couple of months and here we are with an Aliens game that looks like a failure. Now this is really wonderful. Chris Taylor has just canceled the Kickstarter campaign of Wildman and George Broussard, Cliff Bleszinski and Notch decided to discuss whether or not the Kickstarter ‘magic’ is fading out. In fact, everything started by Bleszinski when he wondered whether Kickstarter is feeling ‘kind of… played out …lately‘ or not. And it’s gameover everyone. Chris Taylor has canceled the Kickstarter campaign of Wildman, only four days before its end. To be honest, this Kickstarter would not hit its $1.1 million goal as it has only raised $504K so far. According to the last update of Wildman, at this point, it makes sense for them to focus their attention on other ways to keep Gas Powered Games running. And since the Kickstarter has not met its goal, they felt that they should cancel it instead of witnessing its failure. Unfortunately, Gas Powered Games is unable to share any specifics in public about its current plans, though things are not looking good for them. We’ve included below one of the game’s videos to see what you’ll be missing! Continue reading Wildman Gets Canceled Four Days Before The End Of Its Kickstarter→

4Gamer.net has released some new tech demos from the amazing Luminous Engine. These new videos showcase some of the engine’s capabilities (like its particles system). The most impressive stuff (and perhaps the most boring for some) is the video with the bottle that shows off the refraction and reflection system that Square Enix’s engine supports. Okay, and the fireflies video is impressive and more interesting, so make sure to watch that first. Enjoy! Continue reading New Tech Demos Released For Square Enix’s Luminous Engine→
Man, a lot of Kickstarter campaigns seem to be slipping under our radar lately. Project Awakened is a new third-person game that is powered by Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 and is developed by Phosphor Games Studio. The team is currently building the prototype version with Unreal Engine 3, and there is an ongoing Kickstarter campaign for it. Phosphor Games Studio aims to raise $500K and there are 22 days until they hit this goal (currently the campaign has raised $100K). Square Enix has released a new gameplay video for Crystal Dynamics’ upcoming reboot to the Tomb Raider series. In this video, Lara makes her way from a Monastery to the edge of a Scavenger shanty town, using the environment to succeed in brutal combat. Needless to say that this video contains spoilers, so avoid it if you want to experience Tomb Raider yourselves. Tomb Raider is planned for a March 5th release on PC, X360 and PS3. Enjoy! One of the reasons I love Doom 64 is because id Software decided to create new sprites for every monster and new textures for its environments. The end result was gorgeous back then and – to be honest – I’d love to see a remastered HD version of Doom. You know, 2D sprites that are wonderfully designed in HD. And since this is not going to happen anytime soon, I can at least satisfy my need for some Doom ‘OldSchool’ HD with this video. YouTube’s member ‘TJ Townsend’ has recreated a scene from Doom. The final image spans across 7 PSD files at a resolution of 9600×7211 pixels, and this project took him 35 hours to complete over the course of 8 days. It looks spectacular, so go ahead and take a look! Continue reading This is what a remastered HD version of Doom could look like→

It’s no secret that CD Projekt RED is one of the most beloved PC developers out there. And while we are anxiously waiting for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk, CDPR revealed that the PC version of The Witcher 3 will be the definitive version of it. Yes, The Witcher 3 is announced for next-generation consoles and PC, and from this comment we can be sure that CDPR is developing primary on the PC and will be porting its title to consoles after the completion of the PC version. That, or the PC is the lead platform for The Witcher 3’s development. Continue reading PC Version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Will Be The Best Version Available→
