EA Layoffs Spotted, No Comment On Shutting Down EA Partners

Yesterday, EA announced that it has reduced its workforce in various locations, with rumors suggesting that around 100 employees were laid off. This announcement came after a rumor that its EA Partners program will be shut down, and despite EA not commenting on that front, the company has closed two other studios (PopCap Vancouver and Quicklime Games). On July 10, 2012 Hidden Path Entertainment launched its Kickstarter Campaign to fund new content for its highly acclaimed tower defense game, Defense Grid – The Awakening, and potentially a sequel for the loved title. And now, the company revealed that the Defense Grid community helped catch the eye of an investor and DG2 is successfully being developed. 2K Marin’s XCOM Comes This August, To Be Called ‘The Bureau: XCOM Declassified’

2K and 2K Marin, makers of BioShock 2, announced today that The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will be released on August 20th, 2013 in North America and August 23, 2013 internationally on PC, X360 and PS3. Even though this new XCOM game will retain the style of its earlier version, it has abandoned its first person perspective and is now described as a third-person tactical shooter. These first screenshots showcase the Dark Knight fighting some bad guys, as well the main villains of the game: Deathstroke and Black Mask. Activision announced that the Uprising DLC pack for the PC and PS3 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be made available on May 16th. This pack includes four new multiplayer maps, plus “Mob of the Dead,” a bone-chilling new Zombies experience that takes players to the notorious prison island of Alcatraz. Several of Hollywood’s most iconic actors round out the cast of Prohibition-era mobsters, including Ray Liotta, Michael Madsen, Chazz Palminteri and Joe Pantoliano to bring this horrifying adventure to life.
