Titanfall – CTF & Pilot Hunter Separate Playlists Removed From The PC Version

EA and Respawn are really treating the PC crowd as second class citizens. As soon as the first DLC for the game hit our platform, Respawn and EA removed both CaptureTheFlag and Pilot Hunter from the game’s PC separate playlists.

This – as you may have have guessed – infuriated PC gamers, forcing Respawn to further explain things. However, Respawn’s excuse is so ridiculous that shows why PC gamers should be cautious when it comes to companies that have messed with them in the past.

As Respawn claimed, CTF and Pilot Hunter were removed because there were not a lot of players playing these modes, something that resulted in long ‘wait’ times.

“CTF and Pilot Hunter have not been widely used modes on the PC version. Players trying to access these modes had overlong wait times to find other users and it was making for a poor experience. We want to make sure that not only is there compelling content in the playlists we offer, but that the experience of joining a match works well.”

In other words, EA sold a product with five separate playlists from which two of them were removed because there were not enough PC gamers playing them. Which makes us wonder: was the price cut due to the removal of those playlists or not? And why on Earth are you cutting content from your MP-only game?

Respawn’s reason for removing these playlists is laughable to say the least. If Respawn is obsessed with the quality of its product, then why there isn’t a PC feature via which such issues could have been avoided? You know, a lovely browser list instead of the game’s current Matchmaking system?

If there was a browser list (with filters for proper Matchmaking capabilities if that’s considered a must by Respawn), players would easily select the server of their choice and start playing in the blink of an eye. Now THIS Respawn would be an improved service. THIS is what you should have already done with the PC version. THIS is how you support a PC game. And THIS is how you differentiate yourself from all other studios offering mere console ports of their games.

Respawn concluded that it will still rotate ‘Pilot Hunter and CTF in for future playlists as well as adding new riffs on game types that Respawn is currently working on.’

So if you want to play CTF, you’ll have to pray to God that this mode was added to your playlist. Lovely!
