Pokemon fans, here is something really cool for you today. A fan remake of Pokémon Emerald, called Gamma Emerald, has just been released in Early Access. So, get it while it’s still available.
Gamma Emerald keeps the same story, characters, and events as Pokémon Emerald, but adds some new touches. The remake features day and night cycles, the Berry system, egg breeding, move tutoring, real-time lighting, and more.
The entire path from Littleroot to Mauville (including every interior) was built tile by tile. Your LEAD/Ace Pokémon can follow you around outside its ball. The Berry System/Planting works with the IRL clock. It takes IRL 8 hours to grow new berries.
HMs are now automatic, meaning that you no longer need to teach them to your Pokémon. Once obtained, simply interact with a tree, rock, boulder, etc., and your party will take care of the rest. Plus, you can find hidden Items around the map.
Gamma Emerald has a turn-based battle system built from scratch. It closely follows the original battle rules and logic. Battles are affected by Abilities, Held Items, weather, status effects, and more. TMs can be taught from the Change Move screen instead of the Bag.
After completing the Early Access content, players can rematch Trainers on the second floor of the Pokémon Center in each town. The game also uses the Physical/Special split from later Pokémon games, along with the Gen 6 battle formulas and rules.
What’s also cool here is that while this fan remake uses Unreal Engine 5, it does not have 3D graphics. Instead, it has a cool HD-2D art style. This will undoubtedly please all Pokemon fans.
