Deathloop feature 2

Deathloop is free to keep on Epic Games Store

Epic Games and Bethesda are currently giving away free copies of Arkane Studios’ first-person shooter, Deathloop. Until June 12th, PC gamers can visit the game’s EGS page and acquire their free copy.

In Deathloop, two rival assassins are stuck in a strange time loop on an island called Blackreef. They are forced to relive the same day over and over again. You play as Colt, one of the assassins. Your only way to escape is to break the loop by taking out eight important targets before the day ends and resets.

Each time the day starts again, you keep the knowledge you’ve gained. This helps you try new things, explore different paths, and discover better weapons and powers. The more you learn, the better your chances of breaking the loop for good.

Deathloop came out in 2021 and won a lot of Game of the Year awards. Personally, I wasn’t a big fan of it. The loop mechanic that a lot praised seemed pretty simple to me. Plus, Deathloop was nowhere as good as the Dishonored games or Prey.

When it came out, Deathloop suffered from some optimization issues on PC. While the game did not require a high-end CPU, it did require a powerful GPU. Its graphical presets also did not significantly improve performance (unless you dropped them to Medium).

Moreover, Deathloop suffered from some awful mouse jittering issues. The good news is that Arkane fixed them quickly. So, right now, mouse movement should feel great.

From what I know, Deathloop still uses the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Or at least that’s what its Steam page indicates. I don’t know whether Bethesda has removed it from the EGS version. This seems doubtful.

Anyway, you can go ahead and acquire your free copy from this link.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
