2K Games is currently giving away free copies of Borderlands 2 on Steam. Until June 8th, PC gamers can visit the game’s Steam store page and acquire their free copy.
Borderlands 2 came out in 2021 and is considered the best part of the Borderlands series. In May 2025, 2K Games revealed that Borderlands 2 had sold over 30 million copies, making it 2K’s best-selling game.
In Borderlands 2, you play as one of four new vault hunters facing off against a massive new world of creatures, psychos, and the evil mastermind, Handsome Jack. The game supports co-op with up to four players.
Borderlands 2 features a seamless system enabling you to drop in and drop out of a campaign without ever having to restart the game. On top of that, you can even take your new gear from any game to any other
When it came out, Borderlands 2 also supported some cool hardware-accelerated PhysX effects. Sadly, though, owners of the latest NVIDIA RTX-50 series GPUs won’t be able to enable them. So, this kind of sucks. From what I know, these PhysX effects are still in the game. So, if you own any other NVIDIA GPU, you will be able to enjoy them.
It’s funny that in a matter of weeks, we got free copies of two Borderlands games. Last week, Epic Games gave away free copies of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. And now, we get a free giveaway for Borderlands 2.
This could be a smart marketing move to re-hype the Borderlands series. After all, Borderlands 4 will come out in a few months. So, it makes a lot of sense to offer the past games for free so that they can get the attention of even more players.
Anyway, you can go ahead and acquire your free copy from this link. As said, this is a limited-time offer. You can acquire your free copy until June 8th. Once you acquire it, you will be able to keep the game yours forever.
Have fun!
