Milestone has released a new developer diary for its upcoming rally racing game, WRC 3. In this developer diary, the company showcases the style and graphics of new WRC’s engine through the words of Game Director – Sébastien Pellicano – Art Director – Giacomo Giannella — and Lead Vehicle Artist – Giuliano Lo Bocchiaro. CryEngine 3 has a lot of potential. Yes, we’ve said that a lot of times but each and every time we see a Crysis 2 modded screenshot, we feel ecstatic. Valvetime has revealed some pretty interesting new information, suggesting that Valve is currently developing the next-generation version of their versatile game engine, the Source Engine. Valvetime states that a member from Facepunch, GameDev, has pointed out that there are some new “Source 2 tools” icons stashed away in the Source Filmmaker files. A new leaked image – that was initially posted at Ubisoft’s official forum – indicates that a new Prince of Persia game is under development. According to the image, this new Prince of Persia will support DX11 on the PC and might be called Prince of Persia: Zero 2. This could also mean that this new Prince of Persia game could be a title for next-generation consoles. Ironically, this scene seems to be running with a really low framerate, meaning that Ubisoft needs to start optimizing its engine. The latest Top 10 PC Charts have been revealed and as we can see, The Sims 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Dawnguard are this week’s top selling PC titles. The UK PC Retail charts are similar to the ones of last week, though Diablo III has lost one place whereas Football Manager 2012 has managed to reclaim its second top place. Skyrim has also managed to gain one place, whereas Battlefield 3 has managed to gain two places. And as always, The Sims 3 titles dominate this week’s PC retail charts, as there are six ‘The Sims 3’ games. Codemasters today announced a brand new game mode for F1 2012. ‘Champions Mode’ will enable players to take on each of the six FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONS competing in the 2012 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in individual race scenarios designed for quick play and instant action. Dark Souls fans, we have some good and some bad news for you. The good news first – the PC manual for Dark Souls: Prepare To Edition has been unveiled and you can read it online here. The bad news is that – according to the manual – you will be able to navigate the menu with only the directional keys. The game will support – in-game – mouse but as the manual states, Dark Souls was created to play using the X360 controller. This mod is compatible with Dawnguard and is essential for all those facing FPS issues and crashes due to their RAM getting maxed out. Today we bring you new screenshots from the works of modders walid-payne, ZeroNight, iSqueezee, ReVan1199, EliteGhost, Vanity Assassian, Tiesto, maximus22, and CrydaVinci. The highlight of this week though is the first image, a scene that was created by Thiago Klafke who is an environment artist in Blizzard. It’s great to see artists from other studios experimenting with CryEngine 3 and we hope that their companies will actually use it in a future game. In addition, we should note the two videos that are featured in this week gallery. CrydaVinci created an amazing CG scene that is powered by CryEngine 3, while maximus22 was inspired by Red Dead Redemption and created a ‘Wild Wild West’ level. Enjoy!
