In September 2023, Scans Factory released a pretty cool tech demo for Unreal Engine 4, called Abandoned Warehouse. That demo had amazing pre-baked lighting using traditional methods, and it did not use Ray Tracing or Path Tracing. So, earlier this month, Scan Factory ported the tech demo to Unreal Engine 5, using Lumen and Nanite. And, as you will see, this tech demo is the perfect example of why UE5 can actually harm games and demos that use incredible pre-baked lighting. We’ve tried Lossless Scaling Frame Generation 2.0 and it’s now a must for everyone
In January 2024, we informed you about Lossless Scaling Frame Generation. Created by THS, this tool aimed to allow all GPUs to use Frame Generation. And, as I reported back then, I wasn’t particularly impressed by it. To his credit, THS has been working hard on fixing most of the issues I raised, and he released today a brand new version of it. This is something I wanted to talk about for a long time. You see, earlier this week, Activision released the Beast Glove for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 which, believe it or not, costs 80 euros. Yup, that’s more expensive than the entire game. Not only that but Bandai Namco pushed the Battle Pass and a Shop in Tekken 8, even though the game suffers from major balance issues.
