YouTube’s ‘Brian Menard’ has shared a video, showcasing over an hour of gameplay footage from State of Decay 3. This video is captured from an early alpha build. As such, it does not represent the quality of the final version. Still, it will give you an idea of what Undead Labs aims to create.
State of Decay 3 is an open-world survival game set years after a zombie apocalypse nearly wiped out humankind. According to the game’s description, an evolving zombie threat is taking over the landscape, and you need to carve out a life for your community of survivalist homesteaders.
The devs have claimed that the choices you make will affect in-game events and storylines. For example, if one of your community members falls to the zombie horde, you’ll lose that character and their abilities forever.
State of Decay 3 will support online multiplayer with up to 4 players. As such, players will be able to start a community together from scratch with their friends in a shared, persistent world. They’ll all be able to build, develop, and expand a base that reflects their designs and choices.
Microsoft plans to release State of Decay 3 sometime in 2027. However, we don’t have an exact date for when it will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy the video!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2.
