Deathloop feature 2

Deathloop is free to keep on Epic Games Store

Epic Games and Bethesda are currently giving away free copies of Arkane Studios’ first-person shooter, Deathloop. Until June 12th, PC gamers can visit the game’s EGS page and acquire their free copy.

In Deathloop, two rival assassins are stuck in a strange time loop on an island called Blackreef. They are forced to relive the same day over and over again. You play as Colt, one of the assassins. Your only way to escape is to break the loop by taking out eight important targets before the day ends and resets.

Each time the day starts again, you keep the knowledge you’ve gained. This helps you try new things, explore different paths, and discover better weapons and powers. The more you learn, the better your chances of breaking the loop for good.

Deathloop came out in 2021 and won a lot of Game of the Year awards. Personally, I wasn’t a big fan of it. The loop mechanic that a lot praised seemed pretty simple to me. Plus, Deathloop was nowhere as good as the Dishonored games or Prey.

When it came out, Deathloop suffered from some optimization issues on PC. While the game did not require a high-end CPU, it did require a powerful GPU. Its graphical presets also did not significantly improve performance (unless you dropped them to Medium).

Moreover, Deathloop suffered from some awful mouse jittering issues. The good news is that Arkane fixed them quickly. So, right now, mouse movement should feel great.

From what I know, Deathloop still uses the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Or at least that’s what its Steam page indicates. I don’t know whether Bethesda has removed it from the EGS version. This seems doubtful.

Anyway, you can go ahead and acquire your free copy from this link.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. This game sucks. Arkans haven't made a good game since Dishonored 2. Mostly because it's not even the same team anymore.

  2. I will only claim this from the website without installing their spyware launcher to make Epig Gaymes lose more money. I will not be playing this wo󠀀ke cr󠀀in󠀀ge ni󠀀g󠀀ger fa󠀀gg󠀀ot s󠀀hit at all.

      1. I don’t want EGS to spy on me, their launcher is notorious for being invasive when it comes to privacy, hence why I wrote “spyware” in the original comment.

        1. Yeah dude last time i played Death Stranding in EGS they stole my bank accounts and robbed me of all my money lol. You guys are such drama queens sometimes.

      1. Epig Gaymes and their trash spyware launcher are already brought almost completely on their knees and on the verge of losing the PC gaming market competition, they've survived all of these years so far only due to the countless Fartnite collabs they've been doing for years now and due to them giving away so many trash gaymes that nobody even knows them, let alone likes them because they have nothing left to give away. I remember they gave away Alien Isolation several times already, (just use DSOGaming's search engine and write "Alien Isolation" to look back at the articles over the years), and so many (trash AAA) gaymes they've offered them for completely free and for more than twice by now.

It's over Epig Gaymes, you already lost and Valve already obliterated you and your trash spyware. Awaiting the discontinuation of their spyware alongside filing for their bankruptcy in 2027 🤣

        1. -18% of third party game sales on Epig fail crap store, ahhahaah good like this LOL 👍🤣

        2. That's nice, so what do you get wishing bankrupcy on this company? I also look forward to not get 100% discount deals in the future s/.

    1. People generally assume curiosity is a good thing; however, it can lead to unexpected outcomes mr.thartist. My friend would frequently say stuff like, "I wonder how it feels having a dck in your mouth?" or "I wonder how it feels to have a dck-shaped object inside your anoos?" Consequently, when he came out of the closet, it was shock to no one.
Long story short, this game is very gay.

      1. That edge is out of control as of late… Pick yourself up and get your act together and be a nice boy for once, will ya…

        1. I give you my word that I'll try.
The story about my friend is real though, I thought he was joking.

      2. Turd eating loser. Be careful lil' boy, sounds like you're everything you rally against. Hush mama's boy. I know the world is scary for ya, it's just computer games. Take your pudgy, pallid self and take a gander in a mirror and say… "It's okay, I'm weak and I don't need to be edgy for attention and validation."

As you say "Long story short, this game is very gay". Or maybe you're just hiding something? Grow up lil' guy…

        1. I’ve noticed I trigger you a lot, have you thought about blocking me? that way, a strong person like you won’t be hurt by a pathetic weak person like me anymore.

          1. Nope ya tiny little ignorant d*chebag I would never consider blocking you. Your exceptional naivete and small minded outlook on life with what you express always astounds me!

I know life must be hard for ya but keep being you ya scared lil' child. You entertain me…

          2. Are you sure you’re entertained and not mad? I don’t think cursing at me and calling me names are signs of you being entertained
I’m not trying to provoke you, I’m just saying if I were you and people on the internet could bother me, I’d just block them, it’s an easy problem to solve

  3. redeemed, it's incredible that on Epig fail store I didn't buy a single game, instead on steam and GOG the purchases increase, LOLZ a real success eh Tim sweeney?

      1. Epig fail crap store records a decline in third party sales every year,-18% in 2024 LOL accept reality, it's a failure and they don't know how to reach steam

    1. Enjoy your game. Honestly gamers deserve to be f*k3d in the a$$ with this attitude towards free games, go buy the more expensive triple A games LOL. Like how much of an idiot you have to be to criticize a company whenever they do a good deed! By all means criticize EGS for not being a good social media hub like Steam but there is a time and place appropriate for constructive criticism (oh wait you don't care about that).

      1. Epig games' goal was to take away users and publishers from steam, what did it achieve? NOTHING LOOOL, users who redeem free games without buying (every year there is a drop in third party sales) and publishers are back on steam, even Ubisoft yes we can call it Epig fail store LOL accept reality 👍🤣

        1. I do accept reality, enjoy your more expensive games in your social media hub called Steam, cause this is what you get.

          1. just don't write on the steam forum because the game won't start on Epig fail crap store LOL 👍🤣

          2. better to pay on steam, than to use Epig store which is a spyware LOL, uses more CPU, GPU, consumes more battery than laptops and accesses the steam friends list Epig spyware store LOL 👍🤣

          3. Just go ahead and play a pirated game then, no CPU and GPU usage at all.

          4. I buy games on steam, GOG, itchio and zoom platform to support the industry, Epig users only know how to redeem free games on Thursday, useless market LOL 👍🤣

          5. Do you support the industry by purchasing Unreal Engine games? Tim Sweeney sends his regards.

          6. accept reality Epig had to scare all the publishers away on steam…they all came back nobody buys on Epig fail suck store LOL 👍🤣

          7. I don't remember, but I'm sure I have some, but the important thing is I have it on steam or GOG and not on Epig fail store where you can't even give games to your friends, how disgusting 👍🤣

          8. Wanna give some games to me? Also you pay royalties to Epig Games, just saying.

          9. buy games and support the industry don't be an epig user waiting for free game on thursday LOL 👍🤣

          10. The fact that most people have to discuss Epic games issues on steam discussions tab is evident enough how useless and lackluster the epic game store really is.

          11. I always answer: ask in the Epig forum ah right you can't ahahhah 👍🤣

      2. These free games giveaways are mostly useless as it is only base game without any DLCs, on steam on sale, u can literally buy this game along with all DLCs in just few bucks. People don't hate epic because they are fanboys of steam or GOG, people hate epic because they introduced exclusivity on PC which was never a case in PC gaming before. Because of them AW2 is still epic exclusive, many games came years later to steam store due to Epic non-sense. Remember they used to say that PC market isn't worth it due to piracy.

        1. “These free games giveaways are mostly useless as it is only base game without any DLCs, on steam on sale”
          1- Lots of giveaways with all DLC or most DLC’s where offered, or games with no DLC;
          2- You are under no obligation to buy DLC’s if you don’t want;
          3- There’s a possibility of getting the game for cheaper if it is just the DLC you want to buy;
4- Hating on a 100% discount is dumb and on brand for fanboy gamers.

“people hate epic because they introduced exclusivity on PC which was never a case in PC gaming before.”
Believe it or not PC gaming didn’t start with Steam. A game not being on a platform does not impede your access to said game.

“Because of them AW2 is still epic exclusive”
No, it’s because of Remedy, they always make deals for exclusivity with partners such as Microsoft, just be glad that it is Epic this time around or else you would have to buy an Xbox to play it.

“Remember they used to say that PC market isn’t worth it due to piracy.”
Are you for cancel culture or something? Who gives a sh#t what they said 15 years ago?

          1. i never said PC gaming started with steam, I am a PC gamer since windows 98 era but u cannot deny steam literally saved PC gaming from microsoft BS approach to lock down PC gamers and steam revotionalized digital PC gaming worldwide

          2. They didn’t save anything, they made a sucessful business model, they don’t need your loyalty and you don’t need to be loyal to them, it’s just business. It goes to show how spoiled for choice PC gamers are nowadays, they have free games offered every week, there is barely any console exclusives anymore, a booming market, etc. and people whine about free games of all things…

          3. You are being dismissive & ignoring the fact that how profoundly Valve transformed the PC gaming landscape. Before Steam's dominance, PC gaming was fragmented, infested with DRM nightmares & under threat of being locked down, become unfriendly for modders by platforms like Games for Windows Live.
Steam unified the market, offered fair DRM, frequent sales, mod support & a distribution model that empowered indie developers, regional pricing that helped grow PC gaming even in third world countries, every one of these elements directly contributed to PC gaming's growth & survival. Loyalty is not blind praise, i just acknowledge the company that made important, consumer friendly decisions when others did not.

          4. Ok, but when comes another company that offers 2 games for free every week, gives a bigger cut that “empowers” all developers suddenly those features are “useless” as you said a few posts back? It’s like you guys are begging to be fck3d in the a$$! Sure, criticize EGS for lacking features like Forums, etc. But then to sh@t every post about free games being useless does send the wrong incentives.

“Before Steam’s dominance, PC gaming was fragmented, infested with DRM nightmares & under threat of being locked down, become unfriendly for modders by platforms like Games for Windows Live.”

So basically they saw an business opportunity and seized it. But then comes other companies with even more user friendly features like GoG and barely make a dent in the market.

“Loyalty is not blind praise, i just acknowledge the company that made important, consumer friendly decisions when others did not.”

EGS: hello consumer, would you like these 2 games with 100% discount?
You: This is useless!! I much prefer Steam sales!

          5. It's not just about Epic offering free games, their business practices are also anti-consumer. They pay developers for timed exclusivity, effectively locking games to the Epic Games Store & forcing users onto their platform instead of competing fairly by improving features or user experience. Epic even blamed the PC platform for piracy in the past.

Compare that to GOG, which competes with Steam without resorting to anti-consumer tactics. Even the most loyal Steam fans respect GOG. That said, GOG still has ground to cover, they lack regional pricing. For example, Baldur’s Gate 3 launched at $29.99 on Steam in my country, while it was $59.99 on GOG. Epic matched Steam’s price, but who would choose a barebones store like Epic over Steam, or ignore Steam’s price cut for GOG’s full price?

Understand why people genuinely love Steam, it’s not just about loyalty, it is about value, features, and fairness.

          6. “They pay developers for timed exclusivity, effectively locking games to the Epic Games Store & forcing users onto their platform instead of competing fairly by improving features or user experience.”

The market is ruthless and full of games competing with each other, devs are more than welcome to take a financial incentive to get ahead imo. The reaction is way overblown, it’s much worse when a game is locked in a console. These games might as well get cancelled down the line and EGS offers a lifeline, but selfish pr*ck gamers don’t even think on these terms.

“Even the most loyal Steam fans respect GOG.”

Respect doesn’t mean much when you are not spending your money there.

          7. The developers can do whatever they want but remember how it backfired when metro exodus at final moments got locked to EGS ? They put sticker on top of steam logo lol. Some greedy Developers are thinking short term, take money and be done with it while many others refuse to be involved in this practice. This exclusivity model can work well on consoles but not on PC. You think alienating 90% of PC gamers that use steam will work well in the long term ? You are trying to earn some sort of moral high ground here trying to advocate for EGS while forgetting anti consumer practices should never be supported in the first place. IF EGS wasn't involved in these anti consumer practices, i would be happy to buy games from their store as well.

          8. Anti consumer would be if Epic or other party paid developers to NOT release their game, as in, cancelling the game outright.

“This exclusivity model can work well on consoles but not on PC. You think alienating 90% of PC gamers that use steam will work well in the long term ?”

It’s the same principle with the added bonus that you don’t need to fork 500 dollars for new hardware. One thing i don’t get is that if a recently released game will not go on sale, what’s to stop them from buying on EGS? If it is for a better deal you can either wait the game to release on Steam or a discount on EGS.

“You are trying to earn some sort of moral high ground here trying to advocate for EGS while forgetting anti consumer practices should never be supported in the first place.”
First you need to prove that the pratice is “anti consumer”. Is console devs anti consumer for funding and prioritizing games on their hardware? How come the most benign pratice of exclusivity get railed as anti consumer while for most of gaming history it was common pratice for software to be exclusive to a respective hardware, forcing consumers to spend thousands in cash in order to keep up with their hobby?

          9. Yup it is anti consumer bribing the developers to keep the game locked in the worst store front ever. Epic games store is barebones, no reviews, no discussion threads, no guides page nothing. Worst of all, many games on EPG store eat up more storage as compared to same games on steam due to EGS installing all language packs for many games. No matter what EGS do, until they improve the store front itself, doesn't matters how many free games they give away, people are not going to switch from steam. EGS has been out for many years yet they refuse to add basic features we have on steam for decades.

          10. “Epic games store is barebones, no reviews, no discussion threads, no guides page nothing.”

I have noticed these complaints from the other steam fanboy Maurizio. Do you guys even play games in these online stores or is it just talking crap in forums and social media drivel? From what i experienced i can play games just fine, already played Death Stranding, Elite: Dangerous, Dying Light Enhanced Edition, World of Warships, Warframe…

          11. These complaints are genuine, not being a fan boy, you are trying soo hard to D ride EGS its crazy, i am not talking crap, its the truth, only u want to live in denial and earn some moral high ground here. Maurizio while is a troll, most of the things he say are truth as well, u have to be a really brain dead person to think EGS is giving competition to steam, even after giving free games, people will not switch to EGS, says a lot about EGS who used to be anti PC company a decade plus few years ago

          12. Where did i claimed that:

            1) “EGS is giving competition to steam”?
            2) “These complaints are (not)genuine”?

For point 2 i’m just saying a lot of the complaints are overblown way out of proportion. I tried using the forum of Steam about troubleshooting a game i bought there and no one care, and in other thread someone replied but it didn’t help my problem, so yeah i don’t care that much about the missing features. So the hate is due to EGS fronting a few games to their store, again overblown way out of proportion by people with too many games forgotten in their backlogg. Just try to enjoy things…

          13. Which game u had issues with on steam ? Most of the time the solution to the problem is in the guides itself under the heading of modding and configuration. Heck there is even an app called "steamsuperheater" on github which will automatically detect the games installed from steam and give u list of all fixes availaible for it, u just click install and it automatically installs fixes in the correct location.
People hate EGS becoz they bribe the developers and want to compete without actually making a good store front. As i said if EGS was even half as better as steam, i would also be buying games from there. Giving away free games in hopes of gaining customers only shows how desperate they are to earn attention while steam is doing absolutely nothing and still winning. The recent steamOS performance on handhelds made microsoft make an OS optimised for handheld gamings otherwise microsoft was acting like dictator doing nothing of people's complaints. Unless EGS really does something to scare off steam, i don't think steam have anything to fear from them. I want EGS to compete with steam, competetion is always a good things for us consumers in the end. EGS is doing everything to make hate them, imagine spending all that money giving away free games into actually making a good storefront.

          14. “EGS is doing everything to make hate them, imagine spending all that money giving away free games into actually making a good storefront.”

Again, i played several games there without issues, if you are interested in playing games first instead of ranting about woke crap on forums you are going to be fine.

“Which game u had issues with on steam ?”

Some russian and ukranian games, they are obscure so don’t get a lot of activity in forums but i don’t make a big deal out of it.

    1. Probably the best of the "didn't earn it" hires that are left could do… and that's basically confirmation it's a husk of its former self – Cattle-prodded to produce some spasms in order to earn a cent through the corpse old name

  4. Every Epic giveaway is a good reminder of how scummy John Papapoulos is. Like, how hard is it to just announce the other game they are also offering, even if at a glance? It cost nothing to do this! Then he lied about how he "forgot" to announce Limbo last week, such a lying scummy POS.

      1. In this case, yes, the other indie game offered besides Deathpoop is a stupid generic no-name indie game that nobody even heard of and still nobody will care about it even after the giveaway.

But Limbo definitely should've been covered. It's a very good and beautiful game, and I've played it literally 10 years ago now in 2015.

        1. "indie game that nobody even heard of"

That seems to be the metric people go for and i coudn't disagree more. It could be a hidden gem for all i know and let's be honest, quality is not the value John is going for, or else he would need to stop covering dozens of games. He's nothing but a SEO blogger and i'm tired of people giving him a free pass.

Also, when reporting an event, you need to cover all your bases. For example, supposed you would report a terrorist attack, a POS reporter would just report the location of the attack and the method of the attack while leaving out the number of victims, the motivation of the terrorists or any relevant detail, so when you report a EGS giveaway it's just good journalism to report all games that are being offered for free.

      2. Duh! That’s the point! It’s about having the decency to help out an obscure dev in a sea of games, but people like you and Johnny only cares about lining up your pockets with ad money, there is no passion for the medium at all.

  5. While free is enticing, this title don't even seems to be worth the time nor near non existent endurance hit on the ssd…
