Modder ‘Brawltendo’ has released a new mod that removes the 30fps lock from Need for Speed: Rivals. By using this mod, PC gamers can finally play this NFS game at 60fps, 120fps or 144fps.
This mod for NFS: Rivals allows the game to run smoothly at over 30FPS. The best part is, it doesn’t mess up anything else in the game. So, the way the cars move and everything else stays just the way it should. Unlike some older mods that caused problems with how the game’s physics worked, this one keeps everything in check.
Need for Speed Rivals came out in 2013, was developed by Ghost Games and Criterion Games, and was powered by the Frostbite Engine. And, I’ll be honest here. One of the reasons I didn’t play it back then was due to its 30fps lock. So, after ten years, we finally got a mod that unlocked its framerate. Better late than never I guess.

For a long time there was a way to increase fps limit using “-GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60”, but it created a few issues that made the game harder. Hopefully this mod fixes them.
I finished the game using that work around. There was 1 race that was impossible to finish with the work around but otherwise I don’t remember it being hard at all and had no trouble with any other part of the game. Anyway I’d love to replay this game and if this mod works without any issues that’s all the better!
If I remember correctly, there was an issue with car’s acceleration & max speed, they were lower at 60fps.
Mmmh, never heard of this bug… did it happen also for the EA-only version? Do you remember the race?
That’s the version I have. Can’t say I remember which race—it has been 10 years; though I think it was near the middle of the map.

And that’s why I love modders! Always giving to the players if late than never. Kudos to John as well for he absolutely struck gold with these mods.
Fun game. But the 30fps was horrendous to play through. The previous 60fps unlock had lots of issues. Glad somebody fixed it properly.
It is extremaly hard to make a proper fix like this.
I’ve had many atempts to make a similar patch for some games but there was always something wrong no matter what.

Yeah everything is tied to that 30fps and if it fluctuates it really messed with game speed
That was a thing when it was first released and if you couldn’t hold 60 it was a real mess. I couldn’t hold 60 in it at the time

Superb mod that’s tedious to install. It requires multiple steps including the installation of another app (Frosty Mod Manager) which in itself requires multiples steps to install. Said other app also needs another app (Git for Windows) to be installed first which, again, requires multiple steps of its own to install.
