I’m pretty sure that a lot of players were looking forward to The Witcher 3 Next-Gen (which was meant to come out in Q2 2022). However, CD Projekt RED has just announced that this next-gen version has been indefinitely delayed.
As CD Projekt RED stated:
“We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice.”
And that is that. We now don’t really know when this next-gen update will come out. If I had to guess, I’d say that we shouldn’t expect it before 2023.
CD Projekt RED initially announced The Witcher 3 Next Gen in September 2020. Although the team has not revealed much, it did claim that it would support Ray Tracing effects.
Then, in March 2021, CD Projekt RED’s lead PR manager said that the update would come in H1 2021. And then, in October 2021, CDPR claimed that this Next-Gen Update would come out in Q2 2022.
All in all, it’s been two whole years of nothing. Don’t get us wrong, we totally understand the situation with COVID-19. However, we’re talking about a Next-Gen Update, and not an ENTIRE new game. If CDPR can’t deliver an update for an already released game, then what will happen with the next The Witcher game? But hey, at least until then you can use Reshade Ray Tracing and mods.

That’s what I don’t like about consoles. You buy a shinny new one and on many occasions you have to play with the old generation settings until the devs feel like making a new version, if they make one. Whereas on the PC you just crank settings and resolution up when you buy a new GPU. That’s not to lower the value for money a console represents, just saying that’s something to have in mind..
Back in the day developers would create new games for the new consoles.
If you know this reality of things yet still obstinately stay on consoles rather than switching to PC, then you get what you deserve. You’re in a prison of your own making.
it’s not covid, they outsourced it to Saber Interactive which is actually moscowian studio and its main manpower is in saint petersburg, I was expecting this news since CDPR blocked their games on moscowia (I assume I should stop waiting and just already play original for first time)
Also, after Embracer Group bought Ukranian 4A Games it was put under command of moscowian Saber and there was reports of raising tension at the beginning of this year even before the war
It also raises question of Snowrunner/Spintires (with its commie lenin achievements) future as the series, they still have to finish season pass
Actually, Saber is a US company located in Florida — has been for many years. They do have development teams in Belarus and Russia, but also in Portugal, Spain and Sweden. Learn your facts first.
St Petersburg’s studio did work on TW3 Next-Gen, and CDPR was worried that they might get cut off from the devs if Russian gov’t (or EU/US) decide to shut down Internet access.

This “holy appearance” with emphasize on “US based” actually gets me thinking that Embracer Group will think about or already have begun restructuration of toxic subsidiary to save other studios/projects under their command
timeshift was so good. Saber is working on space marine 2 which suprisingly is written by a canadian transgender..why were russian writers hard to find? Also notice how so many boomer shooters have pretty much crawled to a stop in terms of development like say graven or wraith aeon of ruin or the expansions for ion fury and amid evil the reason for that is that saber bought new blood and forced them to work on space marine 2.

I played first demo of Graven and have feeling that it in development hell, while they made cool old school visuals I was shocked of gameplay, it’s like they completely didn’t know and understand what kind of project gameplay wise they were doing.
There might be game development cycles, where nothing ready and nothing to show yet
With game dev globalization I expect projects without neo commie infusions only from Japan because of language barrier, traditions, and sort of bubble they live. In other cases, executives of studio have to have strong hand and vision to refuse marketing department/publisher to pozz the project in favor to maybe gain more money/or not to be victim of commie mob attacks

So if we’re lucky we get 1-2 good games out of a franchise or from a Dev and then it’s time to move on. I learned that with mass effect but I was hoping cdpr would’ve been different. Flying wild hog did the same thing with Shadow Warrior, it’s pure trash. It’s just A.D.D gaming nowadays. But damn man, you go all the way back as fallout. Idk why they bother with this. Game actually looks fine, specially on PC with some mods. Looks like they want to add some low quality RT effect that the new consoles can handle as an excuse for a next-gen release and even then they struggle to achieve that lol
It’s not only that. A next-gen version would have higher resolution on the new consoles, 60fps most likely, better graphic settings and so on.

I agree that the game still looks pretty, but why did Rockstar bother re-releasing GTA5 for the n’teenth time? Or why did Bethesda bother with Skyrim?
Looking at GTA5 or Skyrim sales numbers, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out.
Witcher 3 made a lot of money for CDPR and it makes sense to refresh it for new generation. Especially when the Netflix show is still on-going and it’s shame that they couldn’t release new or refreshed Witcher games to tap into that hype.

CDPR has a lot of work to do. There is a mod right now with a collection of more than 500 bug fixes! It’s crazy. In fact I won’t play Witcher 3 without my 140 mods installed already. They need to fix the game from top to bottom.
