Final Fantasy 7 Remake new feature

First AI-upscaled HD Texture Pack released for Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Modder ‘Alezein’ has released the first AI-upscaled HD Texture Pack for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. This pack overhauls all the textures, inside and outside 7th Heaven. And, since 7th Heaven plays an important part in FF7R, we highly recommend downloading it.

Now since this HD Texture Pack uses AI techniques, it manages to stay close to the art style of the vanilla textures. According to the modder, this mod upscales a total of 68 textures. Moreover, it overhauls both C textures (color maps) and N textures (normal maps).

You can download this HD Texture Pack from here. Below you can also find some comparison screenshots.

Speaking of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, we also suggest using the following mods. This FOV/Camera Distance Modifier Mod lets you adjust the camera viewpoint to your liking. Dynamic Resolution Disabler is also a must-have mod that de-activates DRS (which is enabled by default). Another cool mod unlocks the dev console, allowing you to also unlock the game’s framerate. For those using an Xbox controller, we also suggest downloading this mod that replaces the Playstation prompts. Lastly, there is an in-game character customization mod, as well as a mod that improves over 530 NPCs faces.

Have fun!

  1. I can’t believe that this was the state of the textures on PC while consuming a lot of VRAM. Unacceptable and charging 70 dollars for it. Ridiculous!

    1. Play the game and you will see why. Other games get away with this by reusing the same textures and models in a level, and a given scene, to save processing and memory which is why you don’t see very rich environments in most games, typically. Final Fantasy VII Remake does an extreme reversal and features a very diverse environment. Uncharted 4 is another great example of them doing the same with clever quality balancing to produce a much more believable and immersive scene:

Meanwhile, in other AAA games you’re seeing the same 3-6 plants everywhere dozens of times on screen, the same 2 posters, barrels, and other objects while structures and characters are highly repetitive. Final Fantasy VII Remake, as an example of its diversity, has over 500 NPC faces which dwarfs most other games despite Final Fantasy VII Remake not being an open world title.

  2. You mean that a PS4 game with like 20x the assets in a single scene than most AAA games might have to actually budget textures for sake of framerate and file size?
