Electronic Arts has released in Early Access its latest soccer game, EA Sports FC 24. The game is powered by the Frostbite Engine and the PC version is based on the current-gen PS5/Xbox Series X version. Thus, we’ve decided to test the game at Native 8K with Ultra Settings. And can the NVIDIA RTX 4090 offer a 60fps experience? Time to find out.
For our EA Sports FC 24 8K benchmarks, we used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, and NVIDIA’s RTX 4090. We also used Windows 10 64-bit and the GeForce 537.13 driver. Moreover, we’ve disabled the second CCD on our 7950X3D.
EA Sports FC 24 comes with very few graphics settings to tweak. PC gamers can adjust the quality of rendering, grass, and crowd. There are also options for Cut-scenes, Hair Strands, and framerate. And… well… that’s all of them.
Now the good news is that EA Sports FC 24 appears to run smoothly on PC, at least during gameplay. Unfortunately, MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner did not work while playing this game. This is another thing you should keep in mind. Thus, in order to measure performance, we enabled NVIDIA’s GeForce Performance Statistics.
At Native 8K/Ultra Settings, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 was able to push 60fps during gameplay. During the more demanding cut-scenes, however, the framerate was dropping at 25-30fps. Still, it’s pretty incredible witnessing this sports game running in 8K/Ultra with 60fps on a single GPU during gameplay.
Before closing, I should note some annoying stutters that we’ve experienced when switching from gameplay to cut-scenes. At first glance, these appeared to be shader compilation stutters. Thankfully, during gameplay, there aren’t any stutters and the game runs smoothly.
