Polycount’s member ‘Thierryart’ has shared a number of screenshots from a next-gen fan-made Ghosts ‘n Goblins project that was recreated in Unreal Engine 4. According to Thierryart, this project was made by a team of 8 people and their aim was to recreate the classic game with a next-gen look in Unreal Engine 4. Polycount’s member ‘djoexe’ has been working these past months on a recreation of Silent Hill P.T. in Unreal Engine 4, and released a couple of days ago a flythrough video from it. djoexe came really close to the real thing, something that is really amazing considering a whole team was behind the P.T. demo. Unreal Engine 4 Versus Unity 4.5.5 – Temple Tech Demo Comparison
YouTube’s member ‘KoHApaT’ has shared a video showing Unreal Engine 4’s Temple tech demo recreated in Unity 4.5.5. This map was recreated by Boris Novikov and KoHApaT added some more effects to it. This recreation can give you an idea between the differences of UE4 and Unity. Do note that Unity 5 is said to be even more versatile and powerful than Unity 4. Unreal Engine 4 Gets Geomerics Enlighten Global Illumination Support, Showcasing Incredible Visuals
Geomerics has released a new video, showing off its Global Illumination effects that have been implemented in Unreal Engine 4. As the company noted, it has explored how Epic’s latest physically-based lighting techniques interact with dynamic lighting through Unreal’s dynamic light types and Enlighten’s global illumination technology. Silent Hill P.T. Being Recreated In Unreal Engine 4
Polycount’s member ‘djoexe‘ is currently recreating Konami’s Silent Hill P.T. project in Unreal Engine 4. While this project is not finished yet (ambient occlusion is obviously missing and the environment itself is not finalized, while lighting still needs more tweaking), djoexe has shared a number of images showing the progress he’s done so far. This UE4 project has a lot of potential to come really close to Konami’s demo, so make sure to view the images after the jump. Unreal Engine 4.5 Is Now Out, Ray Traced Distance Field Shadows Showcased
Epic Games has announced that the latest version (4.5) of Unreal Engine 4 is now available. Unreal Engine 4.5 includes eagerly-awaited features such as animation retargeting, automatic C++ hot reload, light map UV generation and streaming video textures. In addition, this new version of Epic’s engine supports real-time ray traced soft shadows and screen-space subsurface scattering.
