Bentraxx Productions has just released a HD Texture Mod for the sequel to Looking Glass’ classic Thief masterpiece, Thief II: The Metal Age. As the team noted, this mod adds HD textures for all original missions, new vegetation, new water and lava textures, new fire flames, as well as a new Ape-Beast HD skin. It is very hard to be successful and recognized in today’s gaming market. There are hundreds of new titles released each and every year, and while most of them are as mediocre as they can get, there are still some games / franchises that should not be forgotten. A lot of young gamers who came in for fun are running in circles, hunting for games with the best graphics and the best ‘movie feel.’ While graphics and ‘overall feel’ are important, there is nothing more important in games than their gameplay. In this article I will look into some titles that deserve to be remembered. Most of them will be old, and perhaps you may have never played them. My goal with this article is to show you that age and graphics are irrelevant to good gameplay mechanics. After all, there is nothing quite like the following games. Thief 2 and System Shock 2 Get New Unofficial Patches That Improve Their Visuals

Imagine our surprise when we found out that two – mysterious and unofficial – patches went live for two of PC’s classic FPS titles, Thief 2 and System Shock 2. These unofficial patches appeared on French forum Ariane4ever and were uploaded by “Le Corbeau”. What’s really interesting here is that these patches overhaul the games’ visuals, as they add support for 32-bit color, as well as a single display mode option (meaning no resolution change between menus and game) and mousewheel support for the menus. Enjoy Thief 1, 2 and Deadly Shadows with upgraded graphics via some Texture Packs

Thief Gold and Thief 2 have been added recently on Steam. As you may have guessed, these titles look quite dated but thankfully, there are some Texture Packs for them and our member ‘RipNard’ has informed us about them. According to RipNard, Steam uses the DDFIX mod for both Thief 1 and 2, but it seems it has an older version. Those interested can download the latest version from here. Garrett is back with a punch. Last week, Square Enix and Good Old Games released the Gold edition of Thief and we are happy to report today that its sequel, Thief 2: The Metal Age, is also available on CD Projekt’s digital distribution service. Thief 2: The Metal Age is DRM-Free, compatible with both the 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows Vista/7 and is priced at only $9.99 USD.
