Man, what a disastrous launch that was. And ironically, things are going from bad to worse as after the launch day issues that SimCity players faced, EA has managed to F’ things up even more. In order to offer better stability, EA removed the Cheetah mode of SimCity and as you may have expected, a lot of PC gamers got angry with that decision. Electronic Arts has released the new Sim City game, a title that requires a constant internet connection in order to be enjoyed. And as you may have guessed, the game’s servers took a big hit during its launch day. As a result of that, a lot of gamers were unable to play their newly bought game, and got frustrated with EA’s policy over this issue, as well as possible refunds. SimCity – Beta Registrations Open – Beta Begins On January 25th – Tutorial Video Leaked

Electronic Arts today announced that the SimCity beta will run from January 25 – January 28. Those who previously signed up are already in consideration for access to the beta, limited slots are still available for late applicants. Eager fans who want to get an advance look at SimCity have a limited time to sign up at the game’s official website before the application process ends at 2am, GMT on January 21. New SimCity Screenshots Showcase Disasters

Electronic Arts and Maxis have released some new screenshots for SimCity that showcase the in-game disasters that will be featured. Players can expect to see earthquakes, meteor showers, tornadoes and UFO invasions. SimCity will take advantage of Maxis’ new game engine – called GlassBox Engine – and promises to be friendy to mods, to utilize traditional zone placement and to feature curvy roads. SimCity – Gameplay Footage – 10 Minutes Long

Maxis and Electronic Arts have released a 10 minutes gameplay video for SimCity. This is the first gameplay footage of this new SimCity game, in which producer Stone Librande walks us through the basic strategies and simulation of the game. According to the dev team, players can ultimately do whatever they want as they can focus on growing your population or increasing wealth or even build a city that looks like your hometown. Whatever your motivation, you’ll have to the power to experiment with a number of different strategies. SimCity is currently planned for a 2013 release, exclusively on the PC. Enjoy! Maxis has released two new screenshots for SimCity. These new screenshots show off some of the graphical features that will be supported in this new part of the series, like motion blur, depth of field, a reworked lighting system and the dynamic shadow system. Electronic Arts and Maxis have released the first in-game screenshots for their upcoming SimCity game. This new SimCity will take advantage of the bullet physics engine and the team is targeting for a stylized look which has a mesmerizing charm about it.
