As promised yesterday, GSC GameWorld made an official announcement about the fate of STALKER 2. And just a few minutes ago, GSC tweeted that they will do their best to continue. All hell has broken loose today as there was a rumor that – according to UkraNews – GSC GameWorld would be closing its doors. And sadly, it has been confirmed by both GSC GameWorld’s employees and GSC’s director Dmitri Bourkovski, who has officially confirmed the closure of GSC and the cancellation of Stalker 2. Yeap, GSC GameWorld is no more guys. Moreoever, there was a major leak of STALKER 2 artworks and screenshots just a few hours ago. Now frankly, we don’t know if this leak was intentional – as a means to calm the game’s fans down – but we do know that STALKER 2 looked promising. Oh boy, what a shame. The STALKER series was one of the best PC exclusive series and we are really shocked now. Nevertheless, you can find bellow a lot of artworks and two, in-game, screenshots. Remember that interview in which Sergey Grigorovich stated that GSC GameWorld was considering implementing the intrusive ‘always-online’ DRM? Well, that wasn’t the only major detail that was revealed. Grigorovich has also revealed more information about the game’s new engine, its FOV, the system requirements and the possibility of the game coming to current generation consoles. In a recent interview, Sergey Grigorovich revealed something that passed under the radar of all PC gamers. The head of GSC Game World stated that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will require a permanent internet connection when he was asked about the game’s copy protection. Although STALKER 2 is still pretty early in development, Sergey stated that software piracy is an issue for them and they try to fight it, but within reason. Following today’s fan-made film, here are some juicy new information about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. During a Russian interview, GSC GameWorld’s Sergey Gregorovich revealed that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will actually be a movie tie-in and that the movie’s budget is $3 million USD. He also revealed that 60 people work on the game and the game will use like 50% of the previous storylines. Sergey also hinted to a possible PS3 port, although nothing is certain right now.
