It’s a sad day today for all gamers as Disney has shifted Lucas Arts from a development studio to a licensing studio – resulting in a number of lay offs – and High Moon Studios suffered from lay offs right when Deadpool was about to get released. Do note everyone that none of these two studios are shutting down, although you could say that about Lucas Arts. However, Lucas Arts have not developed any memorable game in a long time and since that studio is now turned into a licensing studio, we may see more Star Wars games than you may think. Lucas Arts and EA have revealed that the first paid expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republich will be available for purchase on April 14th. The expansion will be priced at $20 for non-subscribers and $10 to subscribers. Ironically, the game itself is a free-to-play title, yet people are asked to buy this expansion. Oh boy, what next? Kotaku is at it again. After unveiling the first screenshots of Star Wars: First Assault, the big K is back with the first leaked footage from this multiplayer downloadable game. As we can clearly see, this clip features battles between stormtroopers and rebels across various Star War stages. This footage seems to be from an early build of the game, and we are uncertain right now about the fate of this new Star Wars game. Chances are that it may have already been cancelled. Star Wars: Battlefront III is nowhere to be found, however another Star Wars may hit platforms at a later date. According to Kotaku, Star Wars: First Assault is said to be Battlefront III’s predecessor, in which one eight-person team of rebels fights against an eight-person team of Stormtroopers. Electronic Arts has announced that Star Wars: The Old Republic’s Update 1.7 is coming soon, and will give players brand new in-game content to experience including Relics of the Gree, a limited time live event occurring across the galaxy, and the Galactic Reputation system, an exciting new way for players progress their characters. KOTOR 2 is considered one of the best Star Wars RPG games. It’s also considered as one of the buggiest games of all time (although Vampires: The Masquerade had even more bugs in our opinion). Still – and after the restoration mod for it – a lot of gamers want to see another Star Wars RPG, developed by the Obsidian team. Or at least that’s the vibe we get.
