Now that’s what we’re talking about. YouTube’s member ‘Wintergore ‘ created one of the best mashup videos between Metal Gear Solid, Pokemon and Battlefield. Battlemon starts with a Metal Gear Solid feel to it, with the isometric camera and the alarm sound effect. It quickly goes into a small RPG fight (in a Pokemon perspective view) and is followed by a ‘remix’ of Pokemon’s main theme. And once again, players show what we would be getting if there were mod tools for Battlefield 3. Damn you DICE. Enjoy the video below! Following Crytek’s and Epic’s statements about their next-generation game engines, Electronic Arts decided to step in and talk about DICE’s Frostbite 2. In an interview with Gamasutra, EA Games’ label executive, Patrick Soderlund, said that Frostbite 2.0 is built for next-generation hardware and that the PC version of Battlefield 3 was just a small treat of Frostbite 2.0’s capabilities. And things get worse and worse for Dead Space 3. Not only will this third part of Visceral Games’ horror franchise be more action oriented, but it has also been confirmed that the game will feature a cover system and universal ammo. Yeap, universal ammo: the one thing that destroyed the whole Deus Ex: Invisible War experience. Way to go EA. Continue reading New Dead Space 3 Details; cover system confirmed, universal ammo present→
There was a lot of debate – at Crytek’s modding forum – about whether CryEngine 3 was better than 2 or not. Well, as we said a lot of times, CryEngine 3 can do all things that 2 could, and more. The lighting – in particular – is way better and more polished in CryEnine 3. Not only that, but CryEngine 3 features some new features like Global illumination that were not present in CryEngine 2. But anyway, today we bring you some new screenshots from the works of Braxer, iSqueezee, EliteGhost, rGOt, NeoSephiroth, Tidius_, Synce, TheSickness and blackhorizon. Enjoy! Mr Kees de Koning created an interesting machinima for Battlefield 3 that involves a race with lots of explosions. This machinima is basically a cross between Blur/Split Second and Battlefield 3. And after watching it, you’ll definitely miss the mod tools that were released for Battlefield 2 and are nowhere to be found in Battlefield 3. Battlefield 3’s fanbase is huge and there is a huge potential for some mind-blowing mods or total conversions. Unfortunately though, DICE thought otherwise. And no, that ‘Frostbite 2 is too complicated for modders’ thing is the worst excuse we’ve ever heard. Enjoy the video! Continue reading This Battlefield 3 Machinima makes us wish for some BF3 mod tools→
We bet that most of you were puzzled while watching the first gameplay footage of Dead Space 3. It didn’t look like the Dead Space you knew and loved, right? In fact, it looked more similar to Lost Planet than Dead Space and that’s a bad thing in our opinion. What’s even worse is that Electronic Arts is aware of this change and claimed that it was an important change: a change that was made in order to appeal to more gamers. Continue reading Electronic Arts: Dead Space 3 will be more action-packed in order to appeal to a broader crowd→
Israeli Animation College Production created an amazing video, in which they showcase Battlefield 3’s Conquest mode in real life. This is really an amazing live action video as it looks quite similar to Battlefield 3. There are explosions, tanks, helicopters and… the running animation of the medic class is simply lovely. There are some montage issues (and the tank vs heli sequence could be better) but still, it’s an astonishing fan-made video. Kudos to Israeli Animation College and this video made us wish for a Battlefield game with this kind of image fidelity. Damn, next generation can’t come any sooner. But anyway, enjoy the video everyone! Continue reading Battlefield 3 Conquest in Real Life→
