Bethesda has announced that Doom 4 (or plain DOOM) is under development and those who pre-order Wolfenstein: The New Order will be able to participate in its beta phase. Since that beta test won’t launch anytime soon, it is the perfect time to remind yourselves what Doom is. And while the classic Doom titles are still awesome (especially thanks to Doomsday and ZDoom), a new mod aims to somehow modernize the series. DaveTheFreak has released a total conversion for Doom 3 that is called Desolated – The Crying Fate. According to its description, this TC offers many features such as different game-modes, 3 difficulties where the game changes, a RPG-System, Quests and many many more. The downside is that this mod requires the base Doom 3 game, meaning that in order to play it you’ll have to install it. And let’s be honest; there isn’t a lot of people with Doom 3 still installed. Our reader ‘Cristian Fabian Munoz Isla’ has sent us a gameplay video from his most ambitious project, Revenge of Evil. Revenge of Evil is a is a Doom3 spin off, in which the players assume the role of a marine from the Bravo Team. Some levels are similar from Doom 3, while Cristian aims to add some new ones too. Although we still don’t have any mod tools for RAGE, PC gamers can get their hands on some portions of its code (well, in a way), as id Software has released the source code of Doom 3: BFG Edition. In addition, id Software has released a new update for the PC version of Doom 3: BFG Edition that adds variable FOV settings options, controller bind options, Texture LOD bias to menu options and improves the game’s visuals as all projectiles now cast shadows. Man, things are not looking good for the relationship between id Software and PC gamers. It’s ironic, but the company fromTexas was once upon a time THE PC developer. Fast forward a couple of years and here we are today with id Software dropping on the ball on yet another PC game. Doom 3: BFG was released a couple of days ago and let us tell you that it is worse (when it comes to its tech) than the eight year old game that was offered by the very same studio. Lots of news today for our Doom 3 fans. Modder marklegg is creating a Resident Evil mod for id’s FPS title that is based on Capcom’s survival game, Resident Evil. This project started as a simple map but marklegg felt the need to add various things and features, and thus ResiMod came to fruition. This mod is still in its early days and the modder decided to release a video to showcase his map. Sikkmod v1.2 will be a requirement for various aspects of the gameplay and visuals, and the modder is looking for any contribution that can be offered in terms of ideas, models, codes. Enjoy!
