Destiny 2 – PC open beta begins on August 28th, PC beta system requirements revealed

Bungie has announced that the open beta phase for the PC version of Destiny 2 will begin on August 28th. Those who have pre-ordered the game will gain early access to it, and the beta will open to everyone on August 29th. This open beta phase will last until August 31st and even though Bungie did not clarify, we are pretty sure that you’ll need a Battle.net account in order to download it. Destiny 2 reported to sell 3 million units on the PC in its first 3 months

SuperData has issued a press release, claiming that by analyzing historical data and their proprietary analytics-based metric system, Destiny 2 will sell 3 million units on the PC in its first 3 months. Destiny 2 gets an official trailer for its open beta phase, PC beta delayed to August

Activision has released a new trailer for Destiny 2, dedicated to its upcoming open beta phase. Unfortunately, though, this open beta phase has been delayed for the PC. According to the publisher, Destiny 2’s PC open beta phase will begin this August, a month later after its console open beta phase. It appears that Bungie and Vicarious Visions (the team handling the PC version) are doing their best to make Destiny 2 feel like a PC shooter. And while the game does come with a FOV and a respectable amount of options to tweak, it also comes with a “feature” that may disappoint a lot of PC gamers. NVIDIA has released a new video, showing the PC version of Destiny 2 running in 4K with 60fps on the GeForce GTX. NVIDIA has not determined the settings that were used, however we suspect that the green team used the Medium or High presets. Destiny 2 will use a hybrid of client-server and peer-to-peer technology

A lot of players were disappointed when Bungie’s PC lead David Shaw revealed that Destiny 2 would not be using dedicated servers on both consoles and PC. However, it appears that the game will not rely solely on a peer-to-peer network solution. According to Bungie, Destiny 2 will be using a hybrid of client-server and peer-to-peer technology. PC may be the only platform that will run Destiny 2 with smooth 60fps

Even though the PC version of Destiny 2 will be delayed, it appears that this particular version will be the definitive version of Bungie’s upcoming title. And that’s because apart from a FOV slider, a proper mouse+keyboard control scheme and multiple graphics settings, this version may be the only one that will be running at 60fps.
