At this year’s Unite event, Blackbird Interactive presented a new teaser trailer for Homeworld: Shipbreakers. It looks cool, though we can safely say – at least from what we’ve seen this far – that this game won’t be playable until mid-2016. Gearbox and Blackbird Interactive announced in PAX Prime 2013 that Hardware: Shipbreakers, the spiritual successor to Homeworld, will be an official Homeworld game and will be renamed to Homeworld: Shipbreakers. Moreover – and as noted by Polygon – Gearbox will help Blackbird finalize the game with the help of financial and production resources. Homeworld developers reveal their latest project, codenamed ‘Hardware’

Blackbird Interactive has released the debut trailer for Hardware, “the world’s first planetary-scale social strategy game”. We are pretty sure you don’t know who Blackbird is, so let us tell you that the team is consisted of the creators of Homeworld and the Executive Producer of Homeworld 2. In other words, this is the spiritual successor to Homeworld, so get excited everyone. Hardware is set in a future sci-fi world dominated by Long March Industries, a “ruthless interstellar megacorporation” that controls a lucrative mining planet, and players will be commanding a fleet of massive vehicles. The game is currently planned for a PC release, while a console version will depend on the success of the project. Enjoy Hardware’s teaser trailer below!
