Destiny 2 will use a hybrid of client-server and peer-to-peer technology

A lot of players were disappointed when Bungie’s PC lead David Shaw revealed that Destiny 2 would not be using dedicated servers on both consoles and PC. PC may be the only platform that will run Destiny 2 with smooth 60fps

Even though the PC version of Destiny 2 will be delayed, it appears that this particular version will be the definitive version of Bungie’s upcoming title. And that’s because apart from a FOV slider, a proper mouse+keyboard control scheme and multiple graphics settings, this version may be the only one that will be running at 60fps. Destiny 2 will not have dedicated servers, PC version won’t be a console port, will feel like a PC game

In an interview with PCGamer, Bungie’s PC lead David Shaw, shared some interesting new information about the PC version of Destiny 2. Firstly, the game won’t support dedicated servers on both consoles and PC. David described the game’s MP code a ‘complicated typology’ and while he did not reveal much, he did state that there won’t be dedicated servers at all. Activision has revealed some brand new details about the PC version of Destiny 2. Firstly, there is no release date for Destiny 2 PC, meaning that it may be delayed. Not only that, but Destiny 2 will be available exclusively via Blizzard’s Battlenet, and it will not be coming in other digital stores (like Steam or GOG).
