GTA 4 Remaster/Remake in Unreal Engine 5

This Grand Theft Auto 4 Remake in Unreal Engine 5 looks insane

’12th Hour’ has shared a new video on YouTube, showcasing what a modern-day remake of GTA 4 could have looked like in Unreal Engine 5. This fan remake looks absolutely insane, so be sure to watch it.

12th Hour is the man behind two other very cool fan recreations of Grand Theft Auto. In June 2023, the artist shared a video, showing what Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition should have looked like. Then, in the same month, the artist shared a fan recreation of Grand Theft Auto 6 in UE5.

For this project, 12th Hour created a new highly detailed 3D model for Niko Bellic. Then, the artist recreated the Times Square and Statue of Liberty environments. And, as you will see, the end result is incredible. This is exactly what a modern-day remake of Grand Theft Auto 4 should look like. Hell, I don’t even know whether GTA 6 will be able to match these graphics.

Just like many portfolio projects, you can’t download this map. That means you can’t experience it on your PC. Plus, 12th Hour hasn’t shared the resolution, framerate or the PC configuration he has used.

Talking about Unreal Engine 5, we recommend trying out these other fan-made demos. After all, we here at DSOGaming have shared numerous of them. You can grab a Superman UE5 Demo, a Halo 3: ODST Remake, and a Spider-Man UE5 Demo. There’s also a fan-made version of STALKER in Unreal Engine 5. If you love old-school FPS games, you should check out this remake of the classic FPS Blood in Epic’s engine. Don’t also forget the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s Halo level in UE5. Lastly, we have The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Reimagined in Unreal Engine 5 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in UE 5.3.1. They all look awesome, so be sure to give them a try.

Enjoy!

I Remastered GTA 4 (Sorry Rockstar)

  1. Come on John, this isn’t even real-time gameplay. This was just created and rendered in Unreal Engine. The guy even says at the end of the video that the 10 second clip of him walking around the Statue of Liberty took 8 hours to render on a 4090.

  2. Dont see thepoint this is what it could look like not even going to bother watching the video no point if you cant plat iy.

  3. Most of the video is some obnoxious guy droning on about how he wants Rockstar to hire him while interrupting himself with a bunch of pointless memes and pop culture references. I’m sure he’ll get lots of subscribers on YouTube from the younger generations that love that constant flash of things changing on the screen and constant bombardment of noise in their ears, but as for me I’ll pass…

As for the work he did, it looked good, but what was that comment at the end about it taking 8 hours to render a 10 second clip? What did he mean by “render”? As in a Blender render, or as in video encoding? It doesn’t take 8 hours to encode 10 seconds of video with an RTX 4090, so that suggests he meant render as in Blender, and if that’s the case rendering 10 seconds of a game scene taking 8 hours means it isn’t playable and thus isn’t really that useful beyond the bragging rights on YouTube. This kind of thing might be useful at a movie studio, but no one wants a video game that runs less than 1 FPS on an RTX 4090.
