Rise of the Ronin March 14th Update Released, Full Patch Notes


Team Ninja has released the March 14th Update for the PC version of Rise of the Ronin, and shared its full patch notes. So, let’s see what this latest patch brings to the table.

The March 14th Update, also known as Patch 1.09.0.1, adjusts the in-game graphics settings. Settings that heavily affect performance have been adjusted within the preset. Still, players will be able to manually increase individual settings. Moreover, it adds a new recommended preset. This preset will be the most suitable based on the specifications of your PC.

This new update also comes with a few bug fixes. For instance, it fixes an issue where the game would crash on launch, for CPUs with 33 threads and above. It also fixes stuttering issues in specific stages and circumstances. Plus, it fixes an issue where the game would get stuck loading in specific situations.

Rise of the Ronin had major performance issues when it came out. Its Ultra Settings were as unoptimized as they could get. The good news is that the game could scale on older GPUs when using the High or Standard Settings.

Sadly, I don’t see any fix for some of the game’s visual issues. For instance, there is no fix for the texture streaming issues. Right now, the game will not immediately load its high-quality textures, even on high-end GPUs.

It’s a shame that the PC version has these optimization issues. And that’s because Rise of the Ronin is a really fun game. So, let’s hope that Team Ninja will keep releasing performance patches.

System Updates and Adjustments
  • Adjusted the settings of presets.
    Settings that heavily effect performance have been adjusted within the preset.
    You can manually increase individual settings.
  • Added “Recommended” preset
    The recommended preset is the most suitable based on the specifications of your PC.
  • Adjusted name of setting “FPS Limit” to “FPS”
    This option will lock the FPS to the set number. We have adjusted the wording of the setting for better accuracy. We have also added supplementary explanations to highlight its impact to performance.
Bug fixes
  • Fixed an issue where the game would crash on launch, for CPUs with 33 threads and above.
  • Fixed an issue where the game would get stuck loading in specific situations.
  • Fixed stuttering issues in specific stages and circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where interacting with the Veiled Edge Banner under specific circumstances would lead to crashes.
  • Fixed an issue where inputting directional keys when receiving “Midnight” rewards in the Testament of the Soul would lead to getting trapped in the menu.
  • Fixed an issue where selecting OPTIONS rapidly at the title screen would disable further input.
