Dragon Commander Announced; from the makers of Divinity II: Dragon Knight Saga

Larian Studios, the world-famous independent games developer from Belgium best known for its critically acclaimed and commercially successful Divinity II: Dragon Knight Saga  role-playing game, today announced its next big project: Dragon Commander. The project is in development for PC and console platforms, and is currently scheduled for release in 2012.
Dragon Commander is a game of massive dragon combat, epic turn-based strategy and immersive role-playing set in the award-winning Divinity universe, bringing together the studio’s many years of experience in developing top-class RPGs with an original Art Nouveau/Steampunk world that is unlike anything Larian ever created before.
Taking on the role of the legendary first Dragon Knights, the most illustrious heroes in the history of the Divinity universe, players will take command of vast armies in their quest to conquer the empire. With the help of engineers and wizards, they will seek to give their armies both a technological and magical edge, and together with their friends and allies they’ll plan massive war campaigns. Once the enemy comes near, spectacular dragon combat awaits, with power, speed and tactical insight determining who will be victorious.
Swen Vincke, Larian’s Game Director for Dragon Commander said:
“We’ve been dreaming about a project like this for many years, and fresh from the success of our latest game we realized that there is nothing that holds us back any longer. The new game blends together our favorite genres and themes, something that is not easy – but the resulting gameplay experience is very rewarding, and it’s also a lot of fun to make. We have role-playing, we have strategy, we have exploration… and we have plenty of dragons. We also feel that we have finally discovered how dragon combat can work well in a game. We’re pretty much breaking new ground here, and we’re very much determined to surprise the players with what we’ll offer in this game!”
