Modder ‘Kim2091’ has released a new mod that adds full real-time Path Tracing to Fallout: New Vegas. The mod adds a whole new renderer, including custom volumetric clouds, PBR, and a lot more. So, if you want to experience Fallout: New Vegas with Path Tracing, you should definitely give it a go.
With New Vegas RTX, every light in the game becomes a real light source. This includes lights behind you and lights that move. You can see light from gunfire, NPC torches, and the Pip-Boy light in both first and third person. Unlike ReShade RTGI mods, this mod does not just use lights on your screen.
The sky will also have a real sense of depth now. It has air, clouds, stars, and a moon. Moreover, it follows the game’s clock and weather. You can see clear skies, haze, clouds, fog, dust storms, rain, and storms. The sky blends as the weather changes. It also works with weather added by other mods.
The world will keep moving behind the Pip-Boy and other menus. This includes barter, storage, and repair screens. The game no longer freezes the view into a still, sepia image. Additionally, the Pip-Boy stays easy to read, even in bright sunlight. It also has a CRT glass effect for a more realistic look.
Water will now use path tracing for a more realistic look. This means that you can now see ripples and waves. When you dive, sunlight bends and shines under the water. The view also gets darker and murkier the deeper you go.
The sky and world now have more true levels of light and dark. Nights are much darker, so you need a light to see and stay safe in the wasteland.
It’s also worth noting that the mod keeps the whole world in the ray-traced scene, even things behind you. This helps stop shadows and reflections from popping in as you turn. The scene also stays loaded when you open menus, so the game does not hitch when you return to play.
Texture packs that include height maps can now show real depth on walls, ground, and other surfaces. The mod also uses gloss data stored in the alpha channel of normal maps.
Finally, the mod supports NVIDIA DLSS, including Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and Frame Generation. It also supports AMD FSR, Intel XeSS, and NVIDIA Reflex. For AMD and Intel graphics cards, the modder recommends XeSS over FSR for a more stable result.
All in all, this is one of the coolest mods for FNV. So, don’t sleep on it. You can download it from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find its launch trailer.
If you are into Fallout: New Vegas, you can also try these other mods for it. For instance, this mod adds real-time reflections. Another one changes over 1,000 functions to make the game run smoother. Plus, there’s a mod to make the game’s characters even smarter. Another must-have mod is this one, which improves collision accuracy and fixes/optimizes meshes.
In June 2024, we shared a mod that brought some STALKER-like anomalies to the game. Moreover, you can get this mod that adds physically-based vehicles to the game. And if you love quests, there’s a mod that gives you an endless supply of new ones. Let’s also not forget the Visuals Improved Content Expanded Mod. This mod fills the surroundings of Vegas to make it feel more like a real city.
There are also some cool fan-made expansions for New Vegas. Three of them are being made as we speak. These are Fallout: Broken City, Fallout: Nuevo Mexico, and Star Wars Open Worlds. On the other hand, we have these DLC-sized mods that you can grab and play right now. So, you can download Fallout New California, Fallout: Free Cheyenne Demo, and Fallout New Vegas: Out of Bounds. We also have Fallout The Frontier and Retribution 2. Another cool fan expansion is Tales of New Reno.
It’s also worth noting that Fallout: New Vegas now has an online mod called New Vegas: Online. Thanks to this mod, players are able to explore the Mojave, role-play as a Brotherhood member, fight other players, and build their own empire. They can also join an empire created by other players and fight to conquer the wasteland.
Let’s also not forget Dawn of Stealthtenza, another DLC-sized expansion mod that offers 3 hours of new content. There is also a demo of another fan remake mod for the canceled Fallout 3 game, called Fallout Revelation Blues. Plus, you can download the first version of Fallout: The New West, which aims to recreate the canceled Van Buren game. Finally, we have a demo for Fallout: Chicago.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
