Modder ‘Binq_Adams’ has released v0.1.6 of his amazing RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for the original Painkiller game. This latest version comes with lots of tweaks and improvements. So, let’s take a closer look at them.
V0.1.6 significantly updates the lighting in Asylum, Palace, Military Base and Babel. Moreover, it brings even more high-quality textures to the game. Plus, it updates the tonemapper, and it improves a lot of the in-game materials.
This latest version of Painkiller RTX Remix implements a flashlight. As such, players can now press the “f” key to enable it. Furthermore, it adds an occlusion culling option. Occlusion culling comes with a performance hit. So, if it’s too heavy, you can disable it by pressing the “O” key.
And that’s not all. Painkiller RTX Remix v0.1.6 adds new lights to the flamethrower gas canister, the heater gun cluster grenades, and kamyk pebbles. It also removes the fake bloom from lights on some levels. Plus, it adds preliminary testing for RTX Skin on the Alastor boss in the Tower level.
Sadly, this latest version does not add support for more levels. So, like the previous version, you can use this RTX Remix only for chapters 1-6. That’s a bummer, but hey, it’s at least something.

Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for NFS: Underground, Underground 2, and Left 4 Dead 2. Oh, and don’t forget to give a go at this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004.
