In January 2025, we informed you about a Next-Gen HD Texture Pack for Fallout: New Vegas. And that pack got even better. Modder ‘Montisz’ has released a new version of it, as well as an add-on for the Tales of Two Wastelands.
For those who did not know, Tales of Two Wastelands is a mod that combines Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas into one game. It allows both games to be played in a single playthrough. It also upgrades Fallout 3’s mechanics to those of FNV, while balancing both games to feel like you’re playing one full game (instead of two different games using the same character).
To improve the game’s textures, the modder used the SeedVR2.5 Diffusion AI model. Unlike many other AI texture packs, this one adds realistic details, like wood grain, rust, and fabric textures, that you couldn’t see before. It also makes text sharper and easier to read.
To showcase these visual enhancements, the modder shared some before-and-after comparison screenshots. You can find them at the end of the article. The vanilla textures are on the left, whereas the modded textures are on the right.
This is easily one of the best HD Texture Packs I’ve ever seen for Fallout: New Vegas. The extra detail is noticeable right away. The vanilla textures look blurry and messy, almost like someone smeared Vaseline on the screen. But with this new HD Texture Pack, everything looks clean, crisp, and sharp.
You can go ahead and download the new version of the Next-Gen HD Texture Pack from here. Those playing TTW can download its add-on from here. There are two versions available. The most detailed version is TUP 4X. However, if you find it too sharp, you can try TUP 2X. There are also optional packs for Normal Maps.
If you are into Fallout: New Vegas, you can also try these other mods for it. For instance, this mod adds real-time reflections. Another one changes over 1,000 functions to make the game run smoother. Plus, there’s a mod to make the game’s characters even smarter. Another must-have mod is this one, which improves collision accuracy and fixes/optimizes meshes.
In June 2024, we shared a mod that brought some STALKER-like anomalies to the game. Moreover, you can get this mod that adds physically-based vehicles to the game. And if you love quests, there’s a mod that gives you an endless supply of new ones. Let’s also not forget the Visuals Improved Content Expanded Mod. This mod fills the surroundings of Vegas to make it feel more like a real city.
There are also some cool fan-made expansions for New Vegas. Four of them are being made as we speak. These are Fallout: Broken City, Fallout Van buren Remake, Fallout: Nuevo Mexico, and Star Wars Open Worlds. On the other hand, we have these DLC-sized mods that you can grab and play right now. So, you can download Fallout New California, Fallout: Free Cheyenne Demo, and Fallout New Vegas: Out of Bounds. We also have Fallout The Frontier and Retribution 2. Another cool fan expansion is Tales of New Reno. Let’s also not forget Dawn of Stealthtenza, a new DLC-sized expansion mod that offers 3 hours of new content. There is also a demo of another fan remake mod for the canceled Fallout 3 game, called Fallout Revelation Blues.
Have fun!
