The Khronos Group announced the OpenXR 1.0 specifications for virtual and augmented reality
The Khronos Group announced today the ratification and public release of the OpenXR 1.0 specification together with publicly available implementations and substantial ecosystem momentum. OpenXR is a unifying, royalty-free, open standard that provides high-performance, cross-platform access to virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR)— collectively known as XR—platforms and devices. NVIDIA’s Morgan McGuire: “First triple-A game to require a ray tracing GPU will be released in 2023”
While real-time ray tracing is a tech that NVIDIA is currently trying to push, it appears that the first triple-A game that will require a Ray Tracing graphics card will not be coming out anytime soon. According to NVIDIA’s Morgan McGuire, the first triple-A game that will not run on non-Ray Tracing GPUs will be released in 2023 (which is four years from now). Demo for Unreal Gold port in GZDoom Engine is now available for download
Let me start this article by saying that I really don’t know why someone has decided to port the classic Unreal game into the GZDoom Engine. I mean, GZDoom is not THAT advanced compared to Unreal Engine so I don’t really know what is happening here. Still, I find it really cool witnessing a 1:1 port of Unreal in a completely different engine, which is why I decided to share it with you.
