World of Planes changes name, official website relaunched, beta starts in Q1 2012

Gaijin Entertainment, developer and publisher of the upcoming World of Planes action MMO, is happy to announce new details about the game. This project is expanding its horizons, along with its name. The action MMO is now called War Thunder: World of Planes. This name change is significant because the online multiplayer universe Gaijin is developing has evolved beyond pure aerial combat. EIDOS/Square Enix could be coming to Good Old Games this Thursday; hints for Deus Ex and Thief

Good Old Games has announced that a new publisher will be coming to it. Although it is not yet officially revealed who this new publisher will actually be, GoG has provided us with some hints about it. According to its announcement, two game characters from that publisher are now a standard in their genres and will grace their catalog on this Thursday. And from what we have gathered so far, it seems that the new publisher could very well be EIDOS / Square Enix. Classic MW2 map, HighRise, will return in Modern Warfare 3; hinted at the latest Call of Duty ELITE Trailer

I know, I know, the latest trailer for Call of Duty’s ELITE service is cheesy as hell. But we were surprised to find out that the classic MW2 map, Highrise, would return in a new map pack for Modern Warfare 3. Sad thing is that PC gamers will have to wait a little bit more as console gamers will be the first ones to get the new maps. In the following video, and at around 0:50, the Highrise map can be easily spotted, though it looks more like a mix between Highrise + Saffron City from Super Smash Bros. PC gamers, meet Cross of the Dutchman; an action adventure game that is slated for a Q2 2012 release

Dutch independent game development company Triangle Studios is preparing a new action adventure game, called Cross of the Dutchman. Cross of the Dutchman is currently slated for a Q2 2012 release on the PC and tells the legendary story of “Grutte” Pier Gerlofs Donia. Battlefield 3’s Daniel Matros clarifies: new stuff happening today, to be announced in a few weeks

Yesterday, we reported that some new stuff were hinted by Battlefield 3’s community manager, Daniel Matros. The way Daniel tweeted those new features, suggested that an announcement would be made yesterday. However, that’s not the case and Daniel decided to clarify his previous tweet. Therefore, DICE was indeed planning/creating some new stuff yesterday but they won’t be announced today or tomorrow. Bethesda redeems itself with Skyrim 1.4 Beta; huge performance boost over its previous 1.3 version

It took Bethesda a while but finally, Skyrim has been re-compiled with some optimization tools and its 1.4 Beta patch comes with incredible performance gains over its previous version. In fact, Skyrim 1.4 Beta runs even better than Alexander’s awesome performance boost tool, SkyBoost. Yeap, Bethesda has finally redeemed itself and Skyrim performs the way it was meant to. We are talking about 16fps increase in most cases and sometimes, we can even notice a 30fps jump. That’s huge and shows how unoptimized Skyrim was in the first place. Indiana Jones – Raiders of the Lost Ark is considered a classic movie and CraftedMovie has managed to recreate in Minecraft the scene where Jones explores a temple and retrieves a golden idol. YouTube’s member ‘lmMonkeyGOD’ has managed to create an amazing, fan-made trailer for Battlefield 3. ImMonkeyGOD’s video is an entry to the “Only in Battlefield 3” Community Video Challenge that is currently underway and looks damn impressive. Dark Souls Online Petition was successful; surpassed 80K signs but won’t hit 100K anytime soon

It was good while it lasted, right? The Dark Souls petition seems to be at its end as it fulfilled its purpose and as a result of that, the amount of new sign-ups is slowing to a crawl these past few days. This basically means that the petition won’t hit the round number of 100K anytime soon. Nevertheless, achieving 80K signs in just two weeks is an accomplishment in its own right. To be more precise, the petition surpassed the 80K mark in January 20th and today it’s at 81500.
