Alright Windows Nvidia users it is time for a little spring cleaning. I say Windows users because this guide refers to Nvidia directories in Windows and need not apply to Linux users.
Old display drivers can be taking up a lot of space on your HDDs and SSDs. I removed about 2.4GB worth of old drivers about a month ago on my PC so I figured I’d share the info with you guys and gals.
Now if you do a clean install every time you install a new driver you won’t have this issue, but for those who don’t here is how to save some space.
1: Navigate to C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation
2: Delete everything in the “Installer2” folder but not the folder itself.
You can also remove any .exe files in the NetService folder –
I unfortunately had none to show for this demonstration.
That’s about it. We’re looking at starting a whole series of PC cleaning tips so if you guys liked this one let us know in the comments below.

Good. Saved me 1.5 Gb.

7.69 Gb here. Damn, thanx!!
Whoa
950MB, nice. And I was proud of myself for deleting the driver downloads after installation :.:
2.49 GB here, and I do tick the ‘clean install’ option everytime.
Lol, same. I figured with a Clean Reinstall just under 14 months ago I wouldn’t have that much to dump, oh was I wrong…..
Great Article, cheers.
8.12GB here. I would love some more tips, as you can probably tell by that file size I CBA to reformat much.
DDU is great been using it for years.
Good tip. Looking forward to more of these.
I had about 2.1GB in there. Thanks for the tip! Keep them coming!
Nice article!
Installer2 folder is empty,
I think tuneup already removed the files.
anyway thanks
It’s obviously going to be bigger chunks if you install everything (default) when you update drivers.
If you select your components and don’t install things like GF Exp, Stream server, Shadowplay, Hi-Def Audio, etc., the footprint won’t be as large.
248MB for me.
There was 8gb of old drivers in both folders so this tip made a massive difference to my free space on my 250gb ssd, thanks!
If it is only going to be for nVidia, expect antagonistic replies from your viewers.
Cleaned 512MB here. 😉
I use Wise Registry Cleaner and Wise Disk Cleaner to keep all the crap out of my system…it works quite fine. I used CCleaner before and this is miles way better than that.
Thanks for the tip.
I definitely like the idea of a series about how to properly maintain your PC – cleaning(both software and the PC itself),how to deal with viruses, how to reinstall your OS and other tips and tricks like that.
Got 5 gigabytes of space back after using it
3.32GB freed up! Who Knew? thanks for the tip

Thanks for all the feedback guys! 😀
This is going to continue as a weekly occurrence. So expect another every weekend.
