In January 2026, I informed you about an unofficial PC version of the canceled remaster of GoldenEye 007 that was in development. And today, I’m happy to report that this PC version is now out, allowing you to play that canceled James Bond game on PC.
For those who did not know, back in 2008, Nintendo, Activision, and Microsoft agreed to remaster the classic Nintendo 64 game, Goldeneye 007, for Xbox 360. Activision was planning to release the game via XBLA. However, at the last minute, the publisher decided to cancel it.
Going into more details, GoldenEye 007 — PC Recompilation comes with support for smooth, stable 60FPS. The team has recompiled and fixed its GPU-pacing that could occur with the original’s frame timing.
This PC version also comes with online multiplayer support. PC gamers can host or join matches over the internet. You can play MP via LAN, Hamachi, playit.gg, or a public server.
There is also controller support, though I don’t know whether there is any support for keyboard and mouse. We also get an in-game settings menu that will let you set your video display, resolution, frame limit, fullscreen, and online setup. You can access this menu with the ESC key. You will also find a few Post-FX filters for brightness, contrast, saturation, and vignette.
As with pretty much all recompilations, GoldenEye 007 — PC Recompilation does not include any in-game assets. This means that you will need the X360 XBLA ROM file. This may be tricky, as this game was never released to the public. So, it might be a bit hard to find the correct ROM file.
The good news is that since it does not include any in-game assets, Nintendo cannot take it down. So, once you find the ROM, you will be able to download its latest build and enjoy it on PC.
You can go ahead and download GoldenEye 007 — PC Recompilation from this link. Needless to say, we won’t allow any download links to the X360 ROM file. So, don’t bother sharing one in the Comment section.
In case you are into projects like these, you can also download the unofficial PC port of Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Crash Team Racing, and Duke Nukem: Zero Hour. You can also play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Perfect Dark, and Jak & Daxter. And that’s not all of them. We also have the unofficial PC ports of Mario Party 4, Sonic Unleashed, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Super Smash Bros 64.
Have fun!
