Metro 2033 fans, here is something cool for you today. Modder ‘quad98’ has released a new 4K Texture Pack for the Redux version which upscales and overhauls all of its textures. This mod is a must for everyone who wants to replay this first Metro game. At least in my opinion.

Going into more details, the modder used AI tools to upscale the original textures. As such, the new textures retain the art style of the original ones. In other words, they won’t ruin the game’s art direction. At the same time, they can provide a crisper and sharper image.

The mod upscales all the 512×512 and 1024×1024 textures to 2048×2048. It also upscales the 2048×2048 textures to either 4096×4096 or 2048×2048 with better sharpness. Thus, there are two versions you can use. There is a 4K version and a 2K version.

Sadly, the modder did not provide any in-game before/after screenshots. At the mod page, you can find some shots that compare the vanilla with the modded textures. Still, it would have been better to have some in-game comparisons.

You can also find AI-enhanced texture packs for many more games, like Far Cry 3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Blood 2, Dark Souls 2, FEAR, and Batman: Arkham Asylum have also received their own. And then we have those for Resident Evil: Revelations, Revelations 2, Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, Resident Evil 7, and Tomb Raider: Legend. Let’s also not forget this one for Palworld and this one for Thief 2014.
