GSC GameWorld has announced that STALKER 2 has, once again, been delayed. The game will now target a September 5th release date, and you can find below a new trailer for it.
This new trailer does not show much, so you should temper your expectations. All it shows is a group of stalkers sitting in a campfire.
In June 2022, GSC GameWorld delayed the game to 2023. Then, in August 2023, GSC GameWorld stated that STALKER 2 was targeting a Q1 2024 release. And now, the game has been delayed for a third time.
STALKER 2 will be using Unreal Engine 5 and promises to feature incredible graphics. You can also find here its preliminary PC requirements.
Contrary to other Unreal Engine 5 games, STALKER 2 will be also available on Steam. According to its Steam store page, the game won’t have Denuvo. So, that’s good for those who boycott the games using it.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl promises to have a huge, realistic world to explore. You’ll get to wander around a massive 64-square-kilometer radioactive zone. This zone will be filled with all kinds of post-apocalyptic environments. Not only that but players will get to decide how their story unfolds. Additionally, the devs claim that the game will have a highly branching epic story.
STALKER 2 will have a dynamic day-night cycle and weather system. The game also promises to have an advanced AI, and a life-simulating system “A-life 2.0”. Furthermore, there will be modding support, as well as a multiplayer mode (which will be added soon after release as a free update).

The guy that died worked on the first game and wasn’t involved in the sequel. As soon as hostilities started the entire studio relocated to Prague and has been working on the game since then.
He’s not one of the founders, he was the lead designer for Clear Sky, which was horrible, but that;s mainly due to being rushed.
Far from being horrible, it was an excellent stand alone expansion. People need to let go of judging the game by it’s release state, after several patches and mods that fixes most issues have already been released.
I finished it last year though after skipping it initially.
I regret every second of it, it’s really bad, the hasty plot, the nonsensical ballistic system, the whole swamp section, the RNG upgrade system that makes Anomalys system look good, that last final boss, that MG section.
It’s a terrible broken game, I don’t see how can people defend it, it’s like defending Duke It Out in DC.
Modded or vanilla? The MG section is supposed to be skipped.

Playing this games vanilla in this day and age is wasting your time, that goes for all Stalker games.
I played Clear Sky first without knowing it was an expansion of SoC. I still got hooked on the game, the swamp section was great, but i didn’t like the MG section and final boss, but thankfully those issues represent 0,1% of the whole game.
The resy if the game is just as linear and bad.
I don’t even remember it outsids that goofy helicopter bossfight and I can still remember every sequence in SoC and CoP.

I do remember SoC more than CS, but mostly because there are more mods that puts SoC as a base. But overall it really isn’t that much different when it comes to the stuff you be doing in the 90% of the time you play these games.

I know but they moved to a different country. My basis for this statement was more based on the delays from both Star Wars: Survivor and Starfield. They were both delayed several times and we saw how those games turned out.

I thought the franchise would be safe from all these reboots and sequels, but alas, every creative endeavor that you cherish in this Godforsaken Earth must be dragged through the mud for a couple of bucks.

I don’t blame the devs for their attempts at Ukranian localization, they would be mobilized in no time if they attempted to stay neutral, just as the lead designer for Clear Sky that got killed in combat.

I’m not seeing what you complain, really. And Stalker as a whole have so much content, even if you don’t know russian you can enjoy a lot of mods with plenty of content and focus on freeplay.

Seems like they get too ambitious and overstuff the games w filler, maybe chop it in 2 and shorter to market then sell the mostly developed 3 a couple years later. I thought the UE pipeline was supposed to be faster. Lots of UE3/4 devs out there. Coulda done some remaster work on the original trilogy long ago also. Needs the modern qol no doubt.
Was looking forward to playing this since it’s winter. Regardless if the delay is to make the game better/improve it. I’ll never complain even tho Starfield was disappointing aF
