Resident Evil 4 Remake Ada Wong-2

Resident Evil 4 Remake gets an incredible AI-powered Ada Wong Voice Mod

ProMontreal and Destructo have released an incredible AI-powered mod for Resident Evil 4 Remake that replaces Ada Wong’s voice. By using AI tools, the modders were able to come close to the voice of the original actress, and the results are truly mind-blowing.

What’s also incredible here is how “passionate” the new AI dialogue lines actually are. And believe me, I don’t want to criticize the voice actress of Ada Wong from RE4Remake. However, her voiceline delivery was flat and lifeless.

Seriously, just watch the following video. You’d expect the game to feature this voice-acting by default. Instead, here we are with modders using AI to even improve voice dialogues.

Ada Wong Voice MOD Resident Evil 4 Remake

Those interested can download the mod from here.

Speaking of Resident Evil 4 Remake, I also suggest taking a look at these mods for it. For starters, we have this experimental VR Mod. Then, we have this mod that removes the Yellow Paint from the game’s destructible objects. PC gamers can also download a DLSS Mod, as well as a mod that adds RPG-like Health Bars to enemies. And finally, there is this FPS Mod that is currently in development.

Have fun and kudos to our reader ‘HayabusaRyu’ for bringing this to our attention!

        1. It doesn’t matter, she did a good job as a voice actress.
Her voice sounds like a tr4nny, other than that, her performance was fine by modern standards.

          1. >she did a good job as a voice actress

            >her voice sounds like a tr4nny

WTAF is this double think? Pick one and stick with it FFS

        2. She probably had no voice acting experience and/or no cues in the directing. She has been in movies and TV show and her “normal” acting is fine.

      1. She did terrible job. She had a deal with Capcom, if they use her body for in-game model, then she will also do the VA, just like that chick from Flopspoken.
Sure VA is not a easy job, but that Ada chick, holy sh*t that was very bad and lazy.
Capcom and Studio ADR guy also take the L.

        1. she did the voice of ada in some animated resident evil movie or something.

Anyway apparently ashley’s body is based on a cosplayer, so cute wish her face was based on that cosplayer.

          1. Willing to bet money the cosplayer would have done 100x better than what that shrivel-voiced Gao put out.

        2. Terrible? Have you played the original re2 game?
You have no idea what terrible voice acting sounds like.

        1. Lol, no. The voice actress was picked because she was the Ada Wong actress from the live action movie (so they probably wanted continuity or had a deal) and Capcom also fired the previous voice actors for unionizing.

And saying it is racist to pick an Asian actress to portray the Asian character in the film and as the voice of the Asian character in the game is like saying it is racist to historically use use European actresses for historically European characters in Cinderella or The Little Mermaid.

  1. Awesome! Just needs a few tweaks in scenes here and there and it’ll be perfect. But gotta say I was getting used to moaning “oh, Leon..” ada. Lol

  2. All I can hear is the female character from fallout 4. They should have done this with her original RE4 voice.

  3. Good lord this is so much better now, i didn’t like the voice actor change at all in RE4 Remake

    1. Twitteroids are already posting their “yikes”, “ews” and trying to get the mod removed.

  4. Vast improvement. It’s nice that we have such dedicated modders to do this kind of work. I don’t agree with the extreme harassment Lily Gao received but I also don’t agree with her calling any and all criticism of her performance racism. I think pretty much everyone agrees that her performance was subpar and she needs to accept that if she wants to improve.

  5. Anything is better than the disinterested sixty year old chain smoker that Capcom idiotically went with, but this is genuinely good.

  6. This is very insulting. And hurtful for the voice actress. Stop this ridiculous show of yours, constantly changing Ada’s voice with some AI crap. No, the AI voice sounds absolutely lifeless and terrible, almost annoying. And this childish harrassment of Ada’s voice actress because of your “taste” is really starting to become a pain in the a**. How uncultured of you all to do such cruel things possibly because of her nationality. Ada is supposed to act like a professional spy, which she exactly did. It’s not her fault that you expect her to act like a clown so that you say she has “emotions”. You guys are the problem not the voice actress. She was just fine.

    1. Go white knight on Instagram, not here. We don’t care how the VA feels. Also stop acting like wasn’t picked solely based on her nationality rather than any qualifications (this was her first gig and it didn’t leave a good impression).

      1. Not caring about her feelings says a lot about you and believe or not, your opinion doesn’t really matter, nor does this childish game of changing Ada’s voice, because it’s not gonna actually change it. It is what it is. Cry all you want.

        1. LOL what? Since when we need to care about someones feelings? If you cant take it, hide under your bed and it goes for everyone with “gentle” feelings

          1. Oh I’m not the one crying and pointlessly trying to change Ada’s voice. It is what it is and I’m fine with it. Let’s see if your crying can change it.

          2. Nobody is crying, they went and CHANGED it, thats what real men do
Whiners would be whining to the dev, like the wokeists do
Normal people just fix whatever they dont like

      2. Lol, you have no idea what nationality means do you? Her nationality is American. Her qualification as an actress is actually decent – apparently she just has no experience in voice acting.
And if you bothered to do the research, she was the Ada Wong actress from the live action movie (so they probably wanted continuity or had a deal). Capcom also fired the previous voice actors for unionizing. There are also thousands of other voice actresses of East Asian descent Capcom could’ve gone with if being East Asian descent in ethnicity/heritage was the only consideration.
Your claim that Capcom picked her simply because of her ethnicity is silly. That’s like saying any movie/TV where a European descent actor poorly plays a European descent character had its casting decisions due to ethnicity. They picked her because she was cheap (ie. not unionized) and they likely had a deal because she was in the live action remake.

  7. I can’t get behind this trend. I understand preferences, some people like the campy old style. I didn’t , in fact when I played the first game, the campiness of Ada took me right out of the story and I hated her character because of it. In the remake it felt more like an actual person… but that’s my preference. So many people didn’t even notice until a side by side video was shown to them.

Regardless, you’re free to criticize but trying to take someones voice out of the game because it didn’t vibe with you? That goes WAY beyond criticizing a performance. It’s bullying and it’s going to make every performer think twice before touching this franchise due to the toxicity. Completely disgusted with the RE fandom and the writer of this article.

    1. And unfortunately this isn’t the only time the fandom has tried to change Ada’s voice and openly show the toxicity.

    2. Modding your own copy of the game is bullying? You sound like an unhinged lunatic. I bet you’re one of those racist twitter leftoids currently seething about this mod against all reason.

      1. If you watched a movie and thought, I’m just going to cut out this actor from the movie because I think it’s better without them in it, then you start distributing copies of that movie to people. If you fail to see how that can be perceived as bullying then you’re the problem.

I’m not even close to left on the political spectrum nor am… I racist (not even sure how that came up) but I don’t need to check what the right or left are saying about an issue before I decide to have an opinion on something because I’m not a sheep. You must be a sheep otherwise you wouldn’t have brought up political affiliation like it even matters.

        1. you are clearly retarded.
there is nothing wrong with bullying nor toxicity, people that dont like something can f**k off, and stay home behind closed doors, real world is not for them.

          1. While I disagree with Savvy and don’t feel this is bullying saying there’s nothing wrong with bullying or toxicity is really messed up. Just because some people are a**holes doesn’t make it ok for everyone to be.

          2. You need to learn to live with it, somehow it flys by me and i don’t care whatever people say, its just words.
It always surprised me how people can be affected by simple words.
            Just ignore it

          3. Or instead of ignoring the very real effect bullying has on many people understand that just because you can let it roll off your shoulder doesn’t mean everyone is able to or that they’re somehow to blame for being affected by it. Plus as much as you think you’ve been unaffected it’s certainly had a subconscious affect in that it’s caused you to go around victim blaming and being toxic toward others instead of forming a sense of empathy and compassion. Maybe you’re not as unaffected as you think.

You’re contributing to what’s known as the cycle of abuse.

          4. LOL You need to grow some skin and be a Man.

You weak minded millennials and zoomers ruined our freedom, when i started using the internet in 1996 we had COMPLETE freedom, people could say ANYTHING even on “official” forums, now try calling someone a f*g on gamespot see how fast you get banned.

I remember when you could curse on xbox/ps voice chat without any bans.

You people lack any sense of whats fun, of humor, trolling is fun, cursing is fun, fighting is fun, beating a tr**y on the street while you high on x*z is INSANELY fun, hearing someone break down on voice chat is a win.

There is no cycle of violence, people just having fun and being guys, thats normal.

What not normal is trying to force Men to not be Men to de-Testosterone them, be polite and act like girls.

          5. You sound like one of them millennials, if you 48 and talk this way, you probably a liberal, maybe some sort of useless profession major [woman studies etc]

          6. “you are clearly retarded.
there is nothing wrong with bullying nor toxicity, people that dont like something ca”

Clearly I’m not. I don’t even need to read the rest of your sentence lol.

        2. Calling that bullying waters down the meaning of the word and act of bullying. Switching a voice is no different than any other kind of creative transformation. It’s like Weird Al doing a parody or someone taking scenes from a film and editing them as a form of satire.

Calling transformative works and things like satire and parody ‘bullying’ is a form of censorship and goes against the spirit of creative freedom.

          1. Not good comparisons. Weird Al making a parody of a song is not the same thing. Weird Al has tremendous respect for the artist’s he parodies and ensures that the artists and the writers are both ok with a request before he releases it. This as a small VOCAL subset of a community singling out a performer in a video game and then making a collective effort to remove that performer’s work from the game for no other reason than that they didn’t like the performance. Not to parody, not to satire or even add content.

            Acceptable comparisons would be:
The film “All The Money In The World” Kevin Spacey was literally cut out of the movie and replaced by Christopher Plummer. In scenes where he couldn’t be cut/replaced with Plummer, they refilmed the entire scenes with all actors to add Plummer. Regardless of our opinions on the allegations, I think we can all agree this was extreme actions taken due to extreme reasons.
There are also many mods on nexus, especially for Skyrim, that take a characters voice and have it redubbed, sometimes using a VA. This is done usually to add customized content, compatibility or interactivity to a character.

I love RE but this kind of situation happening will make everyone in the industry think twice about associating with the franchise especially when you consider how campy the original performance was.

  8. AI bros are so f*king pathetic and delusional, that they have to resort to AI stealing and injecting someone’s voice, instead of sticking with original voice acting.

    1. I’ll take it. Better to have this as an option. Maybe then people will just do that instead of sending death threats to an actress doing a f*king job for a living. Now, you can say: Don’t like the voice? Then make your own with AI and shut the f*ck up.

The thing is, no one who will use this mod gives a sh*t about the VAs or anyone’s feelings. That’s not a snarky comment, that’s just the truth. People sending death threats definitely don’t give a sh*t. You can cry wolf all you want, but these people are not going to change, because they simply don’t care. Having an AI replacement isn’t that much different from parody, the only difference is the intent. It exists, and it doesn’t matter how much anyone tries to take it down, it will still be available and people are still going to use it. Leave it be. Move on.

  9. The voice actress’ qualification as a regular TV/movie actress is actually decent – apparently she just has no experience in voice acting. So her lack of VA experience and/or bad directing cues probably caused this poor VA result.

And for folks claiming this was purely about ethnicity, that is silly. She was the Ada Wong actress from the live action movie (so they probably wanted continuity or had a deal). Capcom also fired the previous voice actors for unionizing. There are also thousands of other voice actresses of East Asian descent Capcom could’ve gone with if being East Asian descent in ethnicity/heritage was the only consideration.

Claiming Capcom picked her only because of her ethnicity is like saying any movie/TV where a European descent actor poorly plays a European descent character had its casting decisions done due to ethnicity. They picked her because she was cheap (ie. not unionized) and they likely had a deal because she was in the live action remake.
