CD Projekt RED has just released the highly anticipated Path Tracing Overdrive Patch 1.62 for Cyberpunk 2077. This update is 19GB in size, and below you can find its complete changelog.
Naturally, we’ll be sure to benchmark this PT Update. We’ll be also sharing comparison screenshots between the rasterized, ray-traced and path-traced versions.

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.62 Release Notes
- Path Tracing: Technology Preview
Added a Ray Tracing: Overdrive preset which includes the Path Tracing technology. You can enable the Ray Tracing: Overdrive preset in Settings > Graphics > Quick Preset, or just Path Tracing separately in Settings > Graphics in the Ray Tracing section.
Additionally, we included an option to render path-traced screenshots in Photo Mode for other Ray-Tracing-capable graphics cards with at least 8GB VRAM. If your graphics card has more than 8GB VRAM and this option is still greyed out, it means you need to lower your in-game resolution. Note that the higher the resolution and the less powerful the GPU is, the longer it will take to take a screenshot (between a few seconds to several minutes). You can enable Path Tracing for Photo Mode in Settings > Graphics in the Ray Tracing section.
- DLAA
Added NVIDIA DLAA, an AI-based anti-aliasing mode designed to improve image quality. DLAA requires a NVIDIA RTX graphics card. It can be enabled in Settings > Graphics in the NVIDIA DLSS section.
- Intel XeSS
Added support for Intel Xe Super Sampling 1.1, an upscaling technology using machine learning to provide improved performance with high image quality. It can be enabled in Settings > Graphics in the Resolution Scaling section.
- Benchmark improvements
Improved the Benchmark to display more information in the results screen, including PC specs, GPU driver version and selected settings.

That’s from the digital foggotry video it’s basically an ngreedia shill video just like any other by digital foundry ,, it partially looks like crap because of you listen carefully Alex says at the end of the video that all footage was taken using dlss performance mode which does no favours to image quality. They basically only got a few more frames using image generation dlss 3 soo didn’t bother using it it seems. Soo that implies you don’t need a 4090! 3090 1440p dlss performance mode should run it fine 45 fps ?
DLSS performance at 4K looks better than 1440p native. The image is blurry simply because it’s from YT video.
As you can see, even in a low quality screenshot, RT makes a huge difference.

ENDING FOR SUPPORT FOR SLI/CROSSFIRE is straight up anti-progress when it comes to computing.
I never thought dual gpu sli was really more than a gimmick though, most of the time the second gpu was way underutilized. Nvidia learned from the disaster of Physx that selling a second card for something like rt or dlss is not really feasible and would be limited to those games that decided to utilize the tech through nvidias implementation of it. And for mobile systems like modern laptops it’s not feasible at all, and they aren’t going to lower the price for mobility, to the contrary actually so thus cards that really can’t handle the promised tech but can fake it with dubious tech like dlss. So DLSS actually renders the game at lower resolution then magically applies its AA to look like what native res looks like, and even worse is DLSS3 which is just AI to guess frames to boost the FPS artificially, so most will have to do dlss2+3 to get 4k/xxxfps. Odd times.
Physx was never a disaster. NVIDIA was the disaster. That’s like saying sound cards was a disaster. The product is only as good as the supporter. I suggest you go she research the history of Nvidia. As for SLI, I ran that for 10 years and I can assure you that was no gimmick. The only game that still used SLI is the new tomb raider franchise. If a GPU isn’t being utilized that is clearly the the developer/drivers to be blamed. You just can’t beat dual GPU when it’s supported. The word is support. The problem with fake frames and AI is that it puts the power back into the manufacturers hands which is a very bad idea. There needs to be a healthy split where power is concerned.
Just the fact that those dedicated physx cards are long gone testifies to it being a gimmicky greed driven failure. And sound cards are very niche, no one buys those other than pros and those who think they’re pros. SLI was a waste and every thing I read about it in the past says the other card was like 30% utilization, from the consumer pov even worse you pay full price or close to that used for that? So you need a mobo that can handle it, space in your case, your PSU needs to be larger wattage and of course you’re paying the power bill etc heat load fans etc Nah disagree on that. But yeah DLSS2 and Fake frame generation is more ngreedia stuff for overpriced cards. Just FSR is free and software based, no “rt” cores needed.
The main reason they ended dual GPU support is because only 0.1% of users had it and developers didn’t want to waste the time and money to implement it into their games at a nearly total loss …..
19GB wow, that’s 1/3 of the size of the whole game installed, the gratis version, then I have hundreds of mods of all kinds so 68gb total. So for less than half 19gb I’ve added a ton of gameplay, qol, graphical and other enhancers but just to have fancyaz lighting that requires a 4xxxx gpu at 1k$+, it takes 19gb. Ooof we’re in trouble. CPDR is just so trashy lazy, they had a huge sleeper megahit w TW3, which had a bunch of source material not theirs, cyberpunk had much less deep source material, but these polishju devs just starpuck/market their way to sales and the game is half finished, lazy coding scraps at full price. And get so sick of this army of 4090/3090 idiots online who think they’re so omnipotent but really are just dumbos who paid out over 1000$ for a toy that will be “old” in a year or less. Clown world.
Path tracing is the holy grail and the future so you are paying to experience it now. I played it on an RTX 4080 and these graphics are the real deal, generational leap even over the previous RTX features the game had at launch.

Just played a bit of it with an RTX 4080. It honestly looks incredible and its a preview of things to come in the next few years.

Leave this one off if you dont want to rob yourself in buying expensive hardware for just 3% better framerate.
Keep this on ON in about 6 -7 years when you revisit this game by accident and have better and faster hardware by then.
Don’t download if you are using Cyber Engine Tweaks or any mods relying on it. Fortunately GOG makes that easy, just turn off auto updates and download it manually after it’s been vetted or Modders updates their mods for the new version.
However if you are on Steam …. well that’s your own damned fault
